Day 1a of the €5,300 Main Event is in the books at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona and Day 1b is about to kick off at noon local time in Casino Barcelona. Day 1a ended with 726 entries on the tournament clock and 259 players made it through to Day 2. Benjamin Challot ended the day with exactly ten times the starting stack of 30,000 while online legend Simon ''C. Darwin2'' Mattsson sits pretty in second with 292,000 chips.
The EPT stop in Barcelona is one of the busiest on the schedule and it is back for the fifteenth time. Last year the tournament attracted 1,931 entries and Piotr Nurzynski ended as the latest champion. He took home €1,037,109 and he was the sixth millionaire to come out of the EPT Barcelona €5,300 Main Event. The tournament will feature a starting stack of 30,000 and 60-minute levels on Day 1. The players are allowed to make one reentry to make up for two entries in total. There is also the possibility to register at the start of Day 2 but only if you haven't fired two bullets in the tournament yet.
There will be a 20-minute break after every two levels and a 75-minute dinner break at the completion of level eight. They will play two more levels after the dinner break to end the day and bag up for Day 2.

Alexander Ivarsson won the €2,200 EPT National High Roller last night for €498,520 and has taken his seat on Day 1b already. A few tables further up, Markku Koplimaa, the winner of the record-breaking €1,100 EPT National last week is sitting after having won €585,500. Uri Gilboa won the EPT Main Event in Sochi earlier this year for 27,475,000 RUB (~$424,997).

Daniel Silva raised to 300 from the hijack/under-the-gun position and he was called by big blind Mike Del Vecchio in the big blind.
The two saw the flop being dealt and Del Vecchio checked to the initial raiser. Silva continued with a bet of 500 and Del Vecchio called the bet to see the on the turn.
Del Vecchio then check-folded to a bet of 1,300 by Silva and the Brazilian was off to a good start.

Erwann Pecheux started the action with a raise to 300 under the gun and it was called by Saar Wilf in the cutoff, Gheorghe Podovei on the button, Ramandeep Singh Gujral in the small blind and the big blind player.
The flop came and it got checked to Wilf who bet 700. Only the big blind and Pecheux called.
The three players checked when the fell on the turn and a appeared on the river. The small blind bet 1,000 and Pecheux folded. After some thought, Wild decided to raise it to 3,600 and his opponent let it go.
