The third starting flight of the €1,100 EPT National at the 2019 EPT Barcelona will get underway at noon local time. Last year, this event attracted a massive field of 4,348 runners, and it is Jean-René Fontaine who took it down for a first-place prize of €547,000.
Yesterday, 185 players from the 1,240 Day 1a entrants advanced to Day 2, and 91 competitors from the Day 1b field of 606 participants also made it through to Day 2.
Currently holding the overall chip lead is Dejan Jakovljevic with an impressive stack of 915,000. He is followed by Alen Alencar with 830,000. Diego Falcone rounds up the top three with 676,000.
Other big names that also found a bag for Day 2 include Day 1b chip leader Louis Salter (553,000) as well as Sonny Franco (546,000), Raffaele Sorrentino (517,000), Julien Martini (371,000) and PokerStars Pro Ramon Colillas (258,000). Gianluca Speranza (245,000), Matias Ruzzi (181,000), and Pedro Cairat (102,000) are still in contention as well.
Players will start with 30,000 in chips and Day 1c will feature 40-minute levels throughout the day. Play will be suspended after 15% of the field is remaining, which means Day 2 has to be reached in order to make the money. The fourth and final starting flight will kick off at 7 p.m. tonight and feature 20-minute levels instead.
The survivors of the four starting flights will combine on Friday August 23rd at noon local time for Day 2.
