Quinn Picks the Wrong Spot

Niveau 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Connor Quinn
Connor Quinn

Matthew Ireland raised to 40,000 in the hijack and Connor Quinn put his short stack of 220,000 chips to work on the button. The blinds folded and Ireland quickly called to put Quinn at risk.

Matthew Ireland: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Connor Quinn: {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Ireland was in a dominating position and the flop of {q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades} didn't change anything. Quinn picked up a flush draw on the {j-Diamonds} turn but the {q-Hearts} on the river sealed his fate.

Paul Kristoffersson
Paul Kristoffersson

After a couple of preflop raises, Paul Kristoffersson and Matthew Ireland got all of their chips in the middle. Kristoffersson was the player at risk for 425,000 and the two players were in a classic flip.

Matthew Ireland: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Paul Kristoffersson: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

The flop fell {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Kristoffersson took a commanding lead with trip kings. However, the {q-Clubs} on the turn gave Ireland a full house to jump back out front. The {5-Hearts} on the river couldn't turn the tide one more time for Kristoffersson who was sent to the payout desk.

While the tournament clock was paused for the two table redraw, there was still some action going on at the feature table. A completed board of {j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} was spread across the felt with around 200,000 in the middle.

Christian Andersen shoved all in for 115,000 in the big blind and Alexandru Cinca was in the tank. After some table talk between the two players and a couple of minutes had passed, Cinca finally made the call. Andersen tabled {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for just ace-high while Cinca made an incredible call with {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} to eliminate Andersen.

Sulaiman Sesay

Ever since the players returned from dinner break, Ian Simpson and Sulaiman Sesay have been playing pot after pot with each other. Simpson has gotten the better of Sesay over the past hour but Sesay was determined to turn things around.

With around 200,000 in the middle already, the board read {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Sesay checked from the cutoff and Simpson slung in a bet of 135,000 on the button. Sesay contemplated his decision for a couple of minutes before shipping all in for around 400,000 total. Simpson quickly folded and Sesay raked in the pot.

Mate Mecs
Mate Mecs

Mate Mecs made it 5,000 to go from the cutoff and Andre Henning three-bet to 20,000 from the big blind. Mecs thought for a minute before shoving all in for just over 100,000 and Henning flicked in a chip to call.

Mate Mecs: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Andre Henning: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The two players were flipping for stacks and Henning took the lead on the {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop. However, the {6-Spades} on the turn gave Mecs a set of sixes and Henning was drawing dead to the {k-Spades} on the river. Once the stacks were counted, Henning started with just under 100,000 chips and was eliminated.
