Will Givens seeks second WSOP bracelet

After three tournament days and 37 levels of poker action at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, Event #59: $600 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack Championship has seen a field of 6,140 entries whittled down all the way to the final five, all in their pursuit to become the latest bracelet winner at the 2019 World Series of Poker.

The event was scheduled to play down to a winner on Day 3, however, the remaining five hopefuls will return at 2 p.m. local time for an unscheduled fourth day to determine a champion.

Leading the field into the final day of the tournament is Joe Foresman with 74,600,000, followed by WSOP bracelet winner Will Givens (45,500,000) and Germany's Steffen Logen (30,100,000).

Jeff Hakim (24,300,000) and Gleb Kovtunov (9,800,000) round up the remaining line-up and are no strangers to deep runs in international poker tournaments with more than $1.5 million and more than $700,000 in cashes respectively.

Kovtunov will be the short stack heading into the day with 12 big blinds at 400,000/800,000 and a big blind ante of 800,000, but an early double up for the Ukrainian would lift him back into contention for the top prize of $397,903 and the coveted gold bracelet.

Hands #56-60: Three Barrels By Givens

Niveau 38 : 400,000/800,000, 800,000 ante

Hand #56: Jeff Hakim limped the small blind and Steffen Logen checked. On a flop of {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, Hakim checked and called a bt of 800,000 by Logen before the {4-Diamonds} turn and {j-Spades} river were checked. Hakim tabled {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and Logen won the pot with {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}.

Hand #57: Will Givens raised to 1,600,000 from the cutoff and was called by Logen in the small blind and Joe Foresman in the big blind. The {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop was checked to Givens and his continuation bet of 2,500,000 was called only by Logen. The German check-called another bet of 4,400,000 on the {6-Spades} turn and the {8-Hearts} river was checked by Logen. Givens made it 8,000,000 to go and Logen released his cards into the muck.

Hand #58: Logen raised the button to 1,600,000 and won the blinds and big blind ante.

Hand #59: Gleb Kovtunov folded the small blind to give Givens a walk and exposed his {3-Hearts}{2-Spades}.

Hand #60: Another raise and take it for Logen, who made it 1,600,000 from under the gun.

Hand #61: Gleb Kovtunov moved all in for 7,500,000 from the cutoff and Jeff Hakim re-shoved all in over top from the small blind.

Gleb Kovtunov: {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Jeff Hakim: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Kovtunov was dominated and at risk, needing to improve to survive on this final table.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} to keep Hakim in the lead. The turn was the {9-Spades} to give Kovtunov a gut-shot straight draw but the river was the {7-Spades} and he was sent to the rail in 5th place.

All remaining players are guaranteed a payout of $135,783.

Hand #62: Jeff Hakim raised to 1,600,000 on the button and picked up the blinds and antes.

Hand #63: Steffen Logen opened to 1,600,000 on the button and got a call from Will Givens in the big blind. The flop came {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {9-Diamonds} on the turn. Givens led out for 2,500,000 and Logen mucked.

Hand #64: Joe Foresman opened to 1,600,000 on the button and Hakim defended his big blind. The dealer fanned a flop of {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades}, Hakim checked, Foresman bet 2,300,000 and Hakim called. The turn was the {k-Clubs} and both players checked to the {3-Hearts} on the river. They checked again and Hakim announced he had a ten, flashing the {9-Spades} first. Foresman quickly tabled {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for a pair of kings though and Hakim mucked his second card.

Hand #65: Hakim limped in from the small blind and Logen raised to 2,500,000 from the big blind. Hakim limp-shoved all in and Logen went into the tank. Meanwhile, Givens' tall tower of chips teetered over and splashed all over the table, prompting a laugh from the rail. Logen then folded after a moment of thought.

Hand #66: Givens opened to 1,600,000 from under the gun and picked up the blinds and antes.

Hand #67: Jeff Hakim made it 1,800,000 to go from the cutoff and Will Givens defended out of the big blind to see a {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop. Givens check-raised from 1,200,000 to 3,800,000 and Hakim called. Givens led the {5-Diamonds} turn for 6,000,000 to pick up a call from Hakim and they checked the {5-Hearts} on the river.

Givens turned over {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a flush and won the pot.

Hand #68: Givens raised to 2,500,000 in the small blind, forcing a fold from Hakim in the big blind.

Hand #69: Joe Foresman opened to 1,700,000 first to act and claimed the blinds and big blind ante.

Hand #70: A walk for Foresman.

Hand #71: Foresman limped the small blind and Givens checked. Foresman check-called a bet of 1,200,000 on the {k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop and the {q-Clubs} turn and {5-Clubs} river brought no betting action. Foresman announced a four and tabled {a-Spades}{4-Spades} as the winning hand.

Hand #77: Will Givens raised to 1,600,000 on the button and Jeff Hakim jammed the small blind for 15,000,000. Steffen Logen in the big blind asked for a count and folded, as did Givens.

Hand #79: Foresman raised to 1,600,000 from the small blind and Givens called to see a {j-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop, which both players checked. On the {j-Spades} turn, Foresman checked and called a bt of 1,200,000 before doing so again for 3,500,000 on the {2-Hearts} river.

"Ace high is good," Givens said as he rolled over {9-Spades}{7-Spades} for a busted flush draw. Foresman had {k-Spades}{q-Hearts} and won the pot.

Hand #80: Will Givens raised to 2,500,000 in the small blind and Jeff Hakim gave it some consideration before moving all in for just over 17,000,000, Givens almost beat him into the pot.

Jeff Hakim: {a-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Will Givens: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

"I need an ace," Hakim said to his rail. A five would have also done the job after the {k-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop, but the {j-Spades} turn and {q-Spades} river ended Hakim's run in 4th place for $135,783.
