There are three PokerStars Team Pros participating on Day 1a and Jason Mercier is rather short. Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier just busted an opponent to help himself above starting stack while Jake Cody is thriving.

The Brit just checked his option in the big blind on the heads up flop and then called a bet worth 3,500 by Raymond Langbraaten from one seat over. On the turn both checked and Cody then reluctantly called off a final bet worth 4,000 on the river.

Langbraaten showed and that was good enough to win the pot.

Natasha Barbour called in the cutoff and Gianluca Tenore now shoved the small blind for 5,375. Pecheux folded, Aliyev reshoved and Barbour got out of the way as well.

Govert Metaal has been on a tear as of late, and he brought us up to speed by telling us what happened in a big pot he played against Thi Xoa Nguyen.

Metaal raised from late position holding and Nguyen called from the blinds, putting on the flop. Metaal explained how Nguyen called his bets on both the flop and the turn - which was a blank - and the river was the .

Nguyen lead out for 12,500 and Metaal raised it up to 36,000, and his raise got called. Metaal showed his straight, and Nguyen mucked.

A few hands later Metaal limped under the gun and Nguyen raised it up to 1,500. The player on Nguyen's left moved all in for 12,175 and the action folded to Metaal.
