Some Days You Can't Lose

Niveau 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Ivan Baric
Ivan Baric

Ivan Baric was down to just 9,000 chips early on in the tournament, but since then has been sky-rocketing to the top of the leaderboard. In a recent hand, Baric opened from the hijack and was three-bet to 5,500 by the big blind. Baric made a four-bet to 11,000 and his opponent moved all-in for just shy of 20,000. Baric made the call and the two players tabled the same hand.

Baric: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

In what looked to inevitably be a chop pot, the flop came {q-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} and it was Baric with the freeroll on his opponent. The turn brought the {j-Spades} giving Baric a flush draw to win the hand outright. The river landed the {5-Spades} and Baric made the flush to eliminate his opponent.

Romanello Busts with Kicker Problem

Niveau 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Roberto Romanello
Roberto Romanello

Roberto Romanello's table broke, unfortunately it came too late for the Welshman after he had just sent over his stack to Ricardo Chauriye. According to the Chilean, Chauriye raised and Romanello defended from the small blind as did the player in the big blind.

On a {9-}{8-}{4-} rainbow flop, Romanello check-called a bet of Chauriye and check-raised the {4-} turn for his last 12,000. Chauriye called with {A-}{9-} and Romanello's {K-}{9-} ended up second best. That was also confirmed by Georgios Zisimopoulos, who was moved to a new table with Ryan Hughes.

Right at the moment Zisimopoulos arrived, Hughes was involved in a three-way hand on the {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop. Hughes in the small blind and Usman Siddique in the big blind checked. The button bet 800 and Hughes' check-raised to 3,400 won the pot without further resistance.

Just Quads for Dzelili Liridon

Niveau 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Dzelili Liridon
Dzelili Liridon

Dzelili Liridon and his opponent got all of the money in the middle preflop with Liridon's opponent being the player at risk for around 9,500. Liridon was in front with the {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} against his opponent's {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}.

The flop came {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Liridon was ahead with his set of nines. The turn was the {q-Diamonds} leaving his opponent drawing dead before the {9-Spades} on the river even improved Liridon's hand to quads.

Cajelais Above Average

Niveau 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Erik Cajelais and fellow French-Canadian Jeff Cormier are rising with the former well above the starting stack and the latter being among the chip leaders. Cajelais was paid off by Maxim Lykov on the river of a board {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and showed {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for top pair to claim the pot.

One table over, Usman Siddique and Marek Tatar got into a raising war. The latter was on the button and had a raise to 4,000 in front before Siddique reraised to 21,500. That had the remaining stack of Tatar covered and resulted in a fold.

Korochenskiy Exits In Style

Niveau 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Anatoly Korochenskiy
Anatoly Korochenskiy

With a little over 4,000 in the pot and the flop reading {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, the action was checked to Romain Follet in the cutoff. Follet bet 1,700 and Anatoly Korochenskiy check-raised to 3,600. Follet announced all-in and Korochenskiy called for his last 8,500 chips.

Follet: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Korochenskiy: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Korochenskiy hit a set of tens on the flop and looked to be in prime position to double up. The dealer burned and turned the {a-Spades} on the turn and Korochenskiy lept out of his seat (insert many Russian curse words). The river was the {j-Clubs} and Korochenskiy headed towards the exit of the tournament area.

Capoblanco Busts

Niveau 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

It remains unclear when Antonello Capoblanco was all in, but Ivan Baric in the cutoff and Darren Delahunty on the button played for a far bigger side pot. Picking up the action on the {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} turn, Baric checked and called a bet of 17,000 before checking again the {8-Clubs} river. Delahunty made it 35,000 to go after the action checked to him and Baric called.

Delahunty showed the {A-Spades}{4-Spades} for a busted nut flush draw first, while Baric had that beat with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. Capoblanco only had {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and headed to the rail, having entered the tournament not long ago.

The Chips are Flying

Niveau 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Robert Auer was left short after Ivan Baric's double up and he lost the remainder of his chips to Darren Delahunty. Mike Leah chipped up at the same table while John Racener won a small pot without showdown against Viktor Kovachev on another.

Racener bet the {J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{J-Spades}{A-Spades} river for 4,200 after the turn had gone check, check, and Kovachev on the button let go.

According to the screens, there are 57 out of 87 players remaining and Georgios Koliofotis was one of the most recent casualties.

Ferguson Out-Flops Lie

Niveau 7 : 250/500, 75 ante
Aylar Lie
Aylar Lie

Chris Ferguson opened to 1,100 from middle position and Aylar Lie three-bet to 3,000 on the button. The blinds folded and Ferguson made the call to see the flop fall {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}.

Ferguson checked to Lie who fired out a bet of 3,500. Ferguson check-raised to 8,000 and Lie moved all-in for 16,000. Ferguson called and the cards were face up. Lie held {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} but was out-flopped by Ferguson's {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. The turn was the {7-Clubs} and the river brought the {7-Spades}. Ferguson barely had Lie covered and she was eliminated on Day 1A.
