Le Britannique Max Silver remporte l'Event #53 Limit Hold’em 6-Max à 3000$ l'entrée et son premier bracelet WSOP pour un gain de 172 645$. Le joueur anglais a mis 9 heures pour battre ses 5 derniers adversaires malgré une démonstration de force.
Ils étaient 7 en début de journée et Silver s'est chargé de David Olson puis de la dernière femme en course, Lena Wang (5e pour 32 345$). Largement en tête avec plus de la moitié des jetons à 3 left, Silver a profité du gap de 40 000$ entre la 3e et la 2e place pour mettre une pression maximum.
Après avoir éliminé Georgios Kapalas (6e) et Ayma Outmani (4e), Mickey Craft s'incline en 3e position sur un coup où les trois derniers survivants du tournoi étaient à tapis. Malgré une quinte flush en head's up, Geowei Zhang ne parviendra pas à revenir dans la course au bracelet, l'Américain termine runner-up pour un gain à 6 chiffres.

"Je suis tellement heureux. [...] C'est impossible à décrire. J'ai toujours rêvé d'un bracelet. J'ai terminé 3e, 6e, 9e... c'est sympa de gagner. Je n'avais pas gagner un gros truc depuis longtemps", a commenté celui qui compte un succès EPT à son tableau de chasse.
"J'ai joué ce qui me paraissait optimal dans chaque coup et cela a bien fonctionné. Je ne suis pas un expert mais je pense avoir plutôt bien joué et j'en suis fier", a ajouté celui qui demandait des conseils à Joe McKeehen lors des pauses du Jour 1. Le vainqueur du Main Event WSOP avait conquis sa 2e breloque lors d'un tournoi de Limit à 10 000$ quelques jours avant le sacre de Silver.
"Ca reste du poker et ce qui arrive arrive. j'étais optimiste mais j'ai reçu bien plus que ce que à quoi je m'attendais", termine celui qui va prendre un break. Direction Big Apple. "Ma femme est enceinte de six mois, je vais la voir dans 12 heures. J'ai un vol vers New York, elle a un vol vers New York, nous faisons la moitié du chemin. [...] Je suis de retour dans 5 jours", prévient le créateur de SnapShove.
