Liparulo Hits Set to Double Up

Niveau 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Matteo Liparulo
Matteo Liparulo

Matteo Liparulo raised to 500 from late position and Tim Gucher reraised to 1,700. Liparulo called. The flop came 8AJ. Liparulo checked and Gucher bet 1,500, which Liparulo called.

The turn was the 2. Liparulo checked again and Gucher bet 4,000. Liparulo responded with a check-raise all in for 13,700. Gucher quickly tossed a chip in the middle to signify a call. Players flipped their cards, with Liparulo at risk.

Matteo Liparulo: 88
Tim Gucher: AK

Gucher had a pair of aces with king kicker. Liparulo, however, had flopped a set of eights. The river came the Q and Liparulo won the pot to double up his stack early on. He had lost some chips in the previous hands and so pulled it back to above a starting stack.
