Schindler Chips Up After Dinner

Niveau 7 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

With more than 800,000 already in the middle and the heads-up flop reading {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, Jake Schindler bet 600,000 out of the big blind and Steffen Sontheimer sent his cards into the muck from the button.

In the very next hand, Sontheimer raised to 100,000 and Schindler called in the small blind. Daniel Negreanu tossed in the extra chips in the big blind. The {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop was checked through and the {6-Diamonds} appeared on the turn. Schindler made it 125,000 to go, which forced a fold from Negreanu and resulted in a call by Sontheimer.

The {J-Diamonds} river completed the board and Schindler bet 750,000. Sontheimer once more released his cards and let go in the second hand in a row.

Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

Cary Katz opened to 100,000 from early position and was called by Nick Petrangelo on the button and Erik Seidel in the big blind. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Seidel checked to Katz who continued for 300,000. Petrangelo folded but Seidel called.

The turn brought the {7-Hearts} and both players checked to the {j-Diamonds} on the river. Seidel led out for 400,000 and Katz thought about it for a moment and then called. Seidel tabled {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and it proved to be good enough to win the pot.

Siegal Takes From Ivey

Niveau 7 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Joining the action on the heads-up flop of {K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, Matthew Siegal checked out of the big blind and Phil Ivey made it 90,000 to go from early position. Siegal called and check-called another bet of 250,000 on the {J-Diamonds} turn. The {K-Clubs} river paired the board and Siegal quickly bet 400,000. Ivey tossed his cards into the muck after a few seconds.

One hand later, Daniel Negreanu raised to 100,000 and Steffen Sontheimer called in the big blind. Both players checked down the board of {5-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Sontheimer was first to show, turning over an {A-}{8-}. Negreanu had that beat with the {A-Clubs}{10-Spades} and that won the pot.

Can Never Be Too Safe

Niveau 7 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Matthew Siegal opened to 100,000 from middle position and was called by Phil Ivey in the cutoff, Daniel Negreanu in the small blind, and Bryn Kenney in the big blind. The flop came {j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and the action checked to Ivey who bet 250,000. Negreanu was the only one to call as the {9-Spades} landed on the turn.

Negreanu led out for 250,000 this time and Ivey called to see the {4-Clubs} on the river. Negreanu checked and Ivey checked back. Negreanu flipped over {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the nut flush and Ivey let out a "hmmm" before sliding his cards to the muck.

"I don't bet my friends on the river," Negreanu said with a laugh. "Only on the flop and turn, but not on the river."

Katz Takes From Nitsche

Niveau 7 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Cary Katz checked the {K-Spades}{J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} turn out of the big blind and Dominik Nitsche made it 250,000 to go from the cutoff, which Katz called.

The {9-Diamonds} appeared on the river and Katz checked once more. Nitsche made it 650,000 to go.

"How much is it?" Katz asked from the other side of the table and Nitsche quickly confirmed his bet size.

"Okay, I call," Katz replied and was shown the {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Katz had that beat with the {K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and joked, "Play, now I am on tilt. Dom always gets me."

While Nitsche dropped below the starting stack, Katz moved back up to more than 5 million in chips.
