Riordan Busts Right After Doubling through Mercier

Niveau 20 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
John Riordan
John Riordan

John Riordan limped in from under the gun and Jason Mercier raised the pot to 180,000. Riordan called and the flop came {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Riordan checked to Mercier who again bet the pot of 460,000. Riordan jammed all in for 635,000 and Mercier snap-called.

Riordan flopped a set of tens with {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts} while Mercier needed to catch an ace with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{2-Hearts}. The {9-Hearts} on the turn and the {q-Spades} on the river meant a double-up for Riordan.

On the very next hand, Mercier opened to 85,000 and Riordan called from the big blind. The flop fell {q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Riordan checked to Mercier who continued for 70,000. Riordan check-raised to 280,000 and Mercier just called.

The turn brought the {4-Diamonds} and Riordan bet the pot of 790,000. Mercier raised all in and Riordan quickly called. Mercier rolled over {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a set of sevens while Riordan was down to three outs with {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}.

The river was the {k-Clubs} and Mercier's set of sevens held on to eliminate Riordan just moments after doubling him up.
