Jesse Lonis opened to 65,000 on the button and was called by Daniel Buzgon in the big blind.

Buzgon check-called a 35,000 bet from Lonis on the J6A flop and then both players proceeded to check down.

Buzgon revealed the J5 for a pair of jacks and Lonis mucked — awarding the pot to Buzgon.

The Two Failed Bluffs in One Week that Cost Doug Polk $700k

Doug Polk

Chris Moneymaker had the Bluff of the Century in 2003. This past week, Doug Polk had perhaps the Failed Bluff of the Century.

On Sunday, heads-up for a bracelet, Polk bluffed off a significant portion of his stack at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) less than one week after his infamous bluff attempt that didn't get through on Hustler Casino Live's $1 million game.

In both instances, the Upswing Poker founder had a busted draw and attempted to use aggression to coerce his opponents into folding somewhat marginal holdings in massive pots. Both times, however, his efforts were unsuccessful and quite costly.

The flop came 1063 and Chen continued for 80,000, which Ahuja called. On the 2 turn Chen kept the betting lead with a size of 130,000 and again Ahuja made the call.

The J hit the river and both players quickly checked to a showdown. Chen rolled over 77 for a pair of sevens and Ahuja double checked his cards before tossing them into the muck.

Lonis Takes Big Pot From Chen

Niveau 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

In a heads-up pot with roughly 400,000 in the middle on a board showing KJ8A, Jesse Lonis bet out 260,000 from under the gun and James Chen made the call from the hijack.

On the 8 river Lonis kept up the aggression with a bet of 570,000 and Chen went deep in the tank. After close to a minute of thought, Chen reluctantly folded and the pot was sent to Lonis.

As Lonis scooped in the chips he showed the Q to leave Chen guessing if he made the right decision.
