Aggression From Livingston Shuts Down Brewer

Niveau 21 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 45,000 ante
Alex Livingston
Alex Livingston

Chris Brewer raised to 60,000 from the cutoff and got one call from Alex Livingston in the big blind leading to the draw.

Both Livingston and Brewer each drew one.

Livingston led out into Brewer with a bet of 30,000. Brewer, after a very brief pause, answered back with a raise to 185,000.

After about a minute, Livingston decided that he wasn't done and came back at Brewer with a raise of his own, this one in the size of 675,000.

Brewer was quick to wave the white flag by tossing his cards into the muck and Livingston secured the pot with a post-draw three-bet.

Both players drew one and Negreanu bet the last of his chips. Brewer called and Negreanu turned over J5432. It was best against Brewer's J8432 and Negreanu doubled up.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated in 5th Place ($81,751)

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Chris Brewer raised to 60,000 from the cutoff and faced a three-bet from Daniel Negreanu in the small blind to 225,000.

Alex Livingston paused in the big blind before announcing a four-bet to 625,000. Brewer quickly folded to put action back on Negreanu.

After verifying the size of the raise and quickly getting a count of his own chips, Negreanu looked at the dealer and said, "All in".

Livingston quickly called for not much more and both players stood pat to get to showdown as the decidedly pro-Negreanu rail also came to their feet.

Negreanu turned over 98642 but quickly saw that he was second best to Livingston's 87653 as his run at winning his seventh career bracelet comes to a close in fifth place for $81,751.

David "ODB" Baker raised to 100,000 from under the gun and was called by Chris Vitch in the small blind.

Vitch drew one and Baker stood pat. Vitch then bet 200,000 — leaving himself just 5,000 behind. Baker moved in and Vitch folded.

A couple of hands later, Vitch went all in for his single 5,000-denomination chip from under the gun and both Chris Brewer and Baker called. Alex Livingston checked his option from the big blind.

Baker drew one, Livingston drew three, Vitch drew two, and Brewer drew one. Baker then led out for 100,000 and everyone folded.

Baker held 75432 for the wheel and Vitch had drawn to a pair of nines with the 99853 — eliminating him in fourth place.

Brewer called and both he and Baker drew one.

Brewer checked to Baker who paused briefly before putting out a bet of 650,000.

Brewer seemed slightly stuck as he seemed to have a big hand but think that it was no good versus Baker.

David "ODB" Baker and Chris Brewer Look to Win Second Bracelet of the Summer on Unscheduled Day 4 with Three Remaining!

Niveau 23 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 75,000 ante
David "ODB" Baker

Day 3 of Event #69: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw Lowball Championship of the 2023 World Series of Poker has officially come to a close at Horseshoes and Paris Las Vegas. The event was only scheduled to go for three days but when the clock expired in Level 23, three players still remained and were forced to bag and head into an unscheduled Day 4.

The day started with 18 players returning with intentions of playing to a winner, but the deep structure and a missed scheduled level the night before led to bustouts coming slowly throughout the day.

Some of the players who fell as the day carried on included Ryutaro Suzuki (15th - $20,000), Jason Mercier (14th - $23,750), Eli Elezra (13th - $23,750), John Monnette (11th - $28,945), and Ryan Riess (8th - $36,181).

Of the three players who bagged for Day 4, David "ODB" Baker will return with the chip lead having stuffed 4,580,000 into the bag with Chris Brewer bagging 2,765,000 and Alex Livingston coming back to the shortest stack of 1,900,000.

Final Three Chip Counts

PlacePlayerCountryChips
1David "ODB" BakerUnited States4,580,000
2Chris BrewerUnited States2,765,000
3Alex LivingstonCanada1,900,000

Baker's current chip count is especially impressive as he came back for Day 3 with the second shortest stack of the 18 players that remained and had blinded down to 30,000 chips very early in the day but ended up putting a run of dominant play together that put him in a good position to win his second bracelet of the summer and fourth overall.

While he will return with the most to work with, closing this out will be no easy task for Baker as Livingston is chasing his second bracelet and Brewer will also be looking to add his second overall bracelet and second of the summer. So it's safe to say that all three players will be looking to battle until the bitter end and won't give anything away.

The final three players will return July 2 at 1 p.m. to play down to a winner. This structure and game variant will allow for an all-out battle between the final three, so make sure to stayed tuned to PokerNews for up-to-date coverage of this and all remaining events at the 2023 World Series of Poker!
