Kuo Crushes Schulze to Build Big Stack

Niveau 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Felix Schulze
Felix Schulze

"Sorry I crashed out against Kitty," Felix Schulze said when heading past the media desk and provided further information. According to Schulze, he raised to 1,200 from under the gun and picked up one caller before Kitty Kuo in the hijack made it 5,000 to go. Both called to see a flop of {Q-}{9-}{7-} with two clubs and Schulze was the only one to check-call a bet of 8,000 by Kuo.

On the {5-} turn, Schulze checked and called another hefty bet of 25,000 "with the plan to call it off when no club comes on the river." Indeed it was a blank {10-} and Schulze check-called all in with {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} only to find himself up against the pocket queens for top set by Kuo. A quick look at his former table confirmed that story as Kuo was sitting behind a massive stack indeed, and another player at the table remarked "you just missed a big pot, kings versus queens."

Also new on that very same table: Dennis Huntly, who has an above-average stack.

Addamo Bluffs Off a Chunk

Niveau 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Michael Addamo and an opponent on his right were in middle position and built a pot of 11,000. They checked the turn to a completed board of {9-Spades}{k-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}. Addamo saw a check in front and tanked awhile before betting 9,000. His opponent took his own thinking time and tossed in a call.

Addamo tabled {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for an airball and saw he'd been called thin: {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

Butteroni Busts Defending Champion Vijayaram

Niveau 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Shane Vijayaram
Shane Vijayaram

On the turn of a board {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}, defending champion Shane Vijayaram faced a bet of 3,100 and elected to fold, leaving himself with 15,000 behind.

Only a few hands later, Vijayaram limped from under the gun and Federico Butteroni raised to 1,600. The big blind called and Vijayaram moved all in for 14,975, which Butteroni called and forced out the big blind.

Shane Vijayaram: {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Federico Butteroni: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

The {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop gave Vijayaram some hope with running clubs, while the {8-Diamonds} on the turn also enabled a possible split pot via straight on the board. However, it wasn't meant to be this time around for Vijayaram as the {Q-Diamonds} on the river was a blank and even improved Butteroni to a set.

Pezzaniti Decimates Edgtton

Niveau 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

From under the gun, Frank Pezzaniti put in a bet worth 9,600 on a {K-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts} board and Nabil Edgtton called from the small blind. The river brought the {3-Spades} and Edgtton checked. Instantly, Pezzaniti flicked in 25,000 in T-5,000 chips, which send Edgtton in deep thought.

Over four minutes went off the clock as Edgtton tried to make up his mind. Pezzaniti struck the same pose throughout, with one hand covering his mouth. Edgtton eventually called and got shown the bad news as Pezzaniti opened up {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for trip fours.

Last year, the man from Adelaide finished 32nd in the Main Event and he pointed at the winner's wall after the hand, where Shane Vijayaram smiles back at any onlooker. "That's the guy who busted me last year," Pezzaniti said. "This year I'm gonna win it," he laughed.

Ami Barer
Ami Barer

After a raise by the button, Ami Barer three-bet the small blind and was called to see a flop of {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Both players checked and Barer then bet the {8-Hearts} turn for 3,250 in order to force a fold. Without any big showdowns, Barer has grinded up his stack to well over average while Ari Engel and defending champion Shane Vijayaram remain in contention as well.
