A$10,600 Main Event

Jour 1b a débuté

Welcome to Day 1b of 2020 Aussie Millions Main Event

2020 Aussie Millions
2020 Aussie Millions

The 2020 Aussie Millions A$10,600 Main Event has kicked off. With Day 1a in the books after a long Friday grind, Saturday marks the second of three starting flights with Day 1b.

Friday saw an expected number of around 160 entries set foot in Crown Melbourne, and if Day 1b holds true to 2019 form, that number will jump by a decent chunk — the increase was around 100 last year.

On Day 1a, several notable names showed up hoping for a couple of days off, with Tony G, Joe Hachem, Max Lehmanski, Jorryt van Hoof and eventual chip leader Fabian Quoss gracing the felt. Quoss' 187,100 represents the current bar to clear for anyone hoping for the title of overall chip leader.

An identical plan is in the offing for Day 1b, with seven levels scheduled, each lasting 90 minutes apiece. Players get 30,000 in their starting stacks and will progress from 50/100 to 300/600/600. Aussie Millions remains an old-school freezeout, so no reentry is permitted, either in the same starting flight or any other.

Shane Warne Announces Shuffle Up and Deal

With players taking their seats, former Australian cricketer Shane Warne was invited to the stage to get the things started. Tournament director Joel Williams appreciated Warne's effort in raising money for those affected by the continuous bushfires on the continent, and then let Warne kick Day 1b off.

"Enjoy your day, just run well," Warne said to the players before adding: "Shuffle up and deal, and good luck."

Immediate Double for Schlueter

Niveau 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Only minutes into the day, Heinz Schlueter and Yake Wu found a way to get their 300-big blind stacks into the middle. Schlueter opened from the hijack, Wu three-bet from the small blind and then called Schlueter's four-bet. Wu check-called a continuation bet on the {2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop and the {3-Spades} hit the turn.

Wu checked again and Schlueter jammed for 17,150. Wu didn't spend much time before putting his chips in, but he found himself in bad shape as his {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} trailed Schlueter's {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. The river came {k-Diamonds} and Schlueter's hand remained the best.

Wu had his opponent covered and stayed in the tournament, albeit with just 3,500. Meanwhile, Schlueter quickly moved up to around 60,000.

Aido Gets Three Streets

Niveau 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Sergio Aido bet 300 in the cutoff and the player on the button called after an {8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{q-Hearts} flop. Aido bet 1,100 on the {7-Hearts} and again was called. The {3-Spades} prompted a third barrel worth 3,200. The player on the button quickly called but couldn't beat {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a turned flush.

Urbanovich Sits Down and Wins a Pot

Niveau 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Three players saw a flop of {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Spades} and everyone checked. Mike Del Vecchio bet 700 on the {9-Hearts} turn from the big blind, and Dzmitry Urbanovich, freshly seated just a little before, made it 2,600. The small blind folded and Del Vecchio didn't need long before doing the same.

Blomberg Smells a Set

Niveau 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

With {2-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{5-Spades} on the table, a player in the big blind bet 425 and Colton Blomberg flatted on his left. Nikolas Schlie raised to 2,425 from the button, forcing a fold from the big blind. Blomberg, however, matched the bid.

The river came {k-Diamonds} and Blomberged checked to Schlie who announced a bet of 7,500. Blomberg contemplated his decision for a while and then mumbled that his opponent might have turned a set of fives. Eventually, he released his hand and Schlie claimed the pot without showing any of his hole cards.
