After a raise to 2,800 and a three-bet to 8,000, Metaal picked up the best starting hand in poker himself and shoved for 28,000. The reraiser called with and spiked a king on both the flop and the turn to eliminate Metaal. Metaal doesn't bend easy, though, and he quickly fired another bullet.
When we got to the table, Philipp Gruissem had bet 60,000 into a pot of just under 70,000. The board was and his opponent, Leo Yan Ho Cheng was tanking and eventually made the call, albeit seemingly unassuredly. Gruissem turned over for a pair of nines, while Cheng held for top pair and took down the pot.
The tournament clock says that there are around 380 players remaining, but what's perhaps more important is that it also says that the total number of entrants has crossed the 500 player mark, beating the record set this time last year. With registration open until the start of Day 2, that record looks set to be smashed as the tournament has currently 517 entrants, including 61 re-entries.
Some of the eliminations from the field since dinner include November Niner Zvi Stern and Super High Roller Bowl champion Rainer Kempe. Players have the option of re-entering, if they haven't already.
A massive pot was brewing between Christopher Kruk and Adrian Mateos, and it was the latter who ended up with all the chips. The pot was up to 40,000 and the board read . Kruk checked and Mateos shoved all in, which was effectively for Kruk's remaining stack of 30,000.
The American pondered for twenty seconds, then called it off with . To his disgust, Mateos flipped open for the rivered straight, gobbling up all of Kruk's chips in the process.

Ognyan Dimov raised to 2,000 from middle position and Moshin Charania called on the button. Thomas Miller three-bet to 7,500 from the big blind, Dimov moved in for 30,000, Charania folded, and Miller called.
