Hands #16-18: Chidwick Lays Down An Ace

Niveau 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #16: From the button Ole Schemion {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} moved in for 1,715,000. Both blinds folded and Schemion took down the blinds and antes.

Hand #17: In the hijack, Chidwick raised to 125,000 holding {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}. Fatehi called from the big blind with {J-Spades}{9-Clubs} to see a flop. The flop came {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Fatehi checked. Chidwick bet 100,000 into 350,000 and Fatehi called.

The {A-Diamonds} hit the turn, pairing Chidwick, and both players checked. The {4-Clubs} completed the board and Fatehi bet 360,000. Chidwick tanked for a bit and Fatehi asked for the clock.

Chidwick eventually laid it down and said "Good bluff" with a big smile.

"I don't know how to bluff against the professionals" Fatehi answered with an even bigger smile.

Hand #18: In the hijack Schemion made it 125,000 holding {K-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Paul Newey, with an 18-big blind stack, contemplated what to do for a bit with the {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. Eventually he folded.

Greenwood, having 5 big blinds behind, called with {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Greenwood check folded to Schemion's 400,000 bet.

The flop came {6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, pairing both. The {K-Spades} hit the turn.

Hand #20: Mustapha Kanit raised to 160,000 from the small blind with the {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Stephen Chidwick defended the big blind with the {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. The flop fell {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and Kanit led for 140,000. Chidwick called with a gutshot, and the {6-Hearts} turn paired the board.

Kanit bet 385,000 and Chidwick folded.

Hands #23-25: Kurganov Pushes the Action, Doubles Again

Niveau 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #23: Mustapha Kanit raised it up to 125,000 holding {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Ole Schemion found a slightly better king with {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and three bet from the button to 360,000.

Hand #24: Ole Schemion made it 130,000 with {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds} acting out of the cutoff. Igor Kurganov shoved for 1,510,000 holding a mere {10-Spades}{8-Spades}. From the big blind Fatehi folded {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Schemion folded the same hand to let Kurganov have the pot.

Hand #25: Under the gun Chidwick opened the pot with a raise to 125,000 holding {7-Spades}{6-Spades}. Newey folded pocket deuces but Igor Kurganov with {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} on the button wasn't about to do the same. He three bet to 285,000. Fatehi folded {A-Clubs}{9-Spades} and Chidwick decided to call with his suited connector.

The flop came {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and both players checked, despite one flopping two pair and the other flopping a straight.

The {A-Spades} hit the turn and Chidwick checked again. Kurganov bet 235,000 into 720,000 with 1,230,000 behind. Chidwick shoved all in and Kurganov instantly called.

The river came the harmless {Q-Diamonds} and Kurganov doubled. Chidwick left with 480,000.

The {5-Diamonds} hit the turn, doing nothing for Fatehi while Schemion picked up a gutshot on top of his already leading ace-high. Fatehi bet 230,000 and Schemion called again.

The river {10-Hearts} was effectively a blank and Fatehi bet 340,000 into 1,110,000. Schemion called with ace-high and showed the best hand.

Hand #34: Newey Flops the Nuts and Doubles

Niveau 20 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #34: From first position Kurganov opened for 160,000 holding {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Big blind Paul Newey defended his big blind with the {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

The {J-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop was about as good as they could come for Newey and he checked. Kurganov bet 140,000 and Newey made the call.

The {6-Clubs} hit the turn and Newey checked again with 530,000 behind. 700,000 in the pot now and Kurganov shoved all in. Newey made one of the fastest calls in the history of the game.

"Sh#t" said Kurganov, "Ten eight?"

Kurganov soon got the bad news that Newey indeed had ten-eight. The {K-Diamonds} on the turn sealed the deal and Newey doubled.
