Kolonias Secures a Big One Before the Break

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Preflop Alexandros Kolonias opened to 2,200, Piotr Franczak called in middle position before Dong Zhao squeezed to 7,500 right after him. Only Kolonias made the call, and together they saw a flop of {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. Kolonias opted for a check-call of the 14,000 from Zhao, before they both checked through the {9-Diamonds} turn.

The river {6-Hearts} made the Greek fire out a hefty bet of 35,000, and that was enough to win him the pot.

Seat Open for Gradinaru

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Sebastian Veghinas raised to 2,200 and Joris Ruijs called on the button. Georghe Gradinaru moved all in and Veghinas asked for a count. Once it was determined to be 24,800, Veghinas reshoved and Ruijs folded.

Georghe Gradinaru: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Sebastian Veghinas: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The flop of {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} changed nothing and the {J-Diamonds} on the turn meant that all tens were dead for Gradinaru, as that would have given Veghinas the higher straight. A blank {2-Clubs} on the river let the kicker play and eliminated Gradinaru.

Third Time is Not the Charm for Thiry

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Good cards are a blessing, but not connecting with the board can make them quite a burden, as Luxembourg's Christian Thiry just experienced.

Mikalai Vaskaboinikau opened to 2,500 preflop and Adrian Mateos called on the button, before Thiry shipped his remaining 18,200 from the small blind. Vaskaboinikau came over the top all-in, and Mateos quickly folded his hand.

Thiry was trailing with {A-}{Q-} against Vaskaboinikau's kings, and despite a queen on the flop it wasn't enough to win Thiry the pot.

"That's the third hand in a row I've gotten that hand", Thiry proclaimed before leaving the table and heading out of the playing area.

Jattin Busts Vaeza

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Ilkin Amirov raised to 2,200 and Adolfo Vaeza called from a few seats over. The action then reached Farid Jattin on the button and he made it 7,000 to go. Both Amirov and Vaeza called and the flop came {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}. The action checked to Jattin and he continued for 12,400. Amirov folded and Vaeza called.

On the {2-Diamonds} turn, Vaeza checked again quickly. Jattin moved all in for around 40,000 and Vaeza gave it brief consideration before calling all in for approximately 30,000.

Adolfo Vaeza: {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
Farid Jattin: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The {7-Hearts} on the river failed to improve Vaeza and he was eliminated.

The Rich Get (a bit) Richer

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Xiaoyang Luo raised to 2,200 and Alexander Ivarsson called in the big blind. On the {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop, Ivarsson check-called a bet of 2,700 and checked again the {10-Hearts} on the turn. Luo fired a small second barrel worth 3,000 and Ivarsson called.

Both then checked the {8-Diamonds} on the river and Ivarsson rolled over the {2-Hearts} first followed by the {A-Clubs}. Luo nodded and mucked his cards.

"Wait Here"

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Martin Finger has just been eliminated from the High Roller by Gaetano Brignone's aces. Luckily for him, the option of a single reentry is open until tomorrow, and with Finger's last words to his tablemates being "Wait here, I'll be back", we'd say the odds of him reentering are fairly good.

Chidwick Runs with Kings into Aces

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

Roman Korenev raised to 2,300 from early position and Stephen Chidwick three-bet to 8,000 out of the small blind, which Korenev called. On the {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop, Chidwick bet 6,000 and Korenev moved all in. Chidwick called all in for around 40,000 and was at the wrong end of a cooler.

Stephen Chidwick: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Roman Korenev: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

The {8-Diamonds} turn and {7-Spades} river changed nothing anymore and Chidwick left the tournament area, he may very well be back soon for the second bullet though.

Chidwick Is a Non-Believer

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Stephen Chidwick raised to 2,000 from first position and got two callers; Sergey Sergeev in the hijack and Ilkin Amirov in the big blind.

Flop came down {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and the action was checked around. On the {5-Hearts} turn Amirov took initiative and led out for 2,700 that only Chidwick called.

River {5-Clubs} double-paired the board and yet again Amirov bet. The 7,200 ultimately wasn't enough to get Chidwick to fold, and Amirov turned over {K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} with a little shake of his head. King high was no good against Chidwick's {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}, and the Englishman scooped the pot.
