Helppi Coolers Eibinger

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 300 ante
Matthias Eibinger
Matthias Eibinger

Three players saw an {8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{a-Hearts} flop and the betting ended with Matthias Eibinger all in for about 30,000 and Juha Helppi having called him. Pedro Marques thought awhile and gave it up, and it was Helppi's {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} besting the lower set of Eibinger ({8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}). The {3-Diamonds} turn and {q-Diamonds} river sent the pot to Helppi, who covered.

Schwippert Convinces Lilic

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 300 ante

Jan Schwippert and John Lilic built a pot of about 9,000 preflop and Schwippert, in the small blind, bet 3,000 on {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades}. Lilic called, bringing the {q-Hearts}. Schwippert bet 6,000 and Lilic called. On the {7-Clubs} river, Schwippert moved to see Lilic's stack. The Canadian obliged by leaning back in his chair, and Schwippert soon shoved for about 22,000 effective.

Lilic didn't think long before releasing.

Margereson Eliminates Lilic Before Break

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 300 ante

John Lilic's slide ended, but not in the way he would have hoped. In what looked to be a three-bet pot with Scott Margereson putting in 2,800 on the button, {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades} flopped. Lilic shoved all in first to act, and Jan Schwippert mucked. Just as quickly, Margereson called and tabled {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}.

Lilic was in awful shape with {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and the {2-Spades} turn ended things without need for a sweat to the {k-Hearts} river.

Players are now on break for 15 minutes.

Castro Busts Grafton's First Shell

Niveau 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Guenter Castro
Guenter Castro

Sam Grafton put in a four-bet shove worth exactly 27,000 from under the gun, and Guenter Castro, who had three-bet on his left, seemed to have a tough decision. He tanked long enough to use two extensions and seemed to be holding his cards as if to fold but then slid in a stack of chips.

Guenter Castro: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Sam Grafton: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

"Unlucky," Grafton said. "Unlucky situation, I mean!"

As if he jinxed himself, Grafton saw an ugly {q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{a-Clubs} flop, meaning he needed runner-runner or a king. The {7-Spades} and {2-Spades} didn't do it.

Change to the Plan

Niveau 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Due to a relatively small number of entries — and a decent amount being expected on Day 2 — as well as the late start, only seven levels will be played today instead of the originally scheduled eight.

Boivin Gets Paid by Tuna

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 500 ante

Akin Tuna and Matthias Eibinger checked to Thomas Boivin with 23,000 already in the pot and {5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{a-Hearts} on the felt. Boivin bet 10,000 and only Tuna, in the small blind, called. On the {10-Diamonds} river, Tuna checked. Boivin used a time extension and then bet 25,000, nearly all of his remaining chips. Tuna used his own extension before calling.

Boivin tabled {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for fives full and took down the huge pot.
