Two Double Knockouts in Quick Succession

Niveau 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

Pasquale Braco pushed from early position and Jack Salter did so from one seat over, while the action folded to Mark Teltscher in the big blind. The Brit verified with the dealer that both players were all in, peeked at his cards and called instantly.

Pasquale Braco: {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Jack Salter: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Mark Teltscher: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

"Ace from space," Salter joked but the {K-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop immediately crushed all hopes. "Give me that sweet four," Salter added but was left drawing dead on the {2-Spades} turn to render the {10-Diamonds} river to a mere formality.

The table was next to break, however another double elimination took place before that happened.

Short stack Makram Saber pushed, as did Boris Kuzmanovic, and Adrian Mateos, who had been down to 15,000 not long ago, called with the superior stack.

Makram Saber: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Boris Kuzmanovic: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Adrian Mateos: {A-Hearts}{k-Spades}

With the board running out {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, the second double elimination took place and Mateos suddenly jumped up to an average stack.

David Peters Has All the Chips; Lew and Cygan Eliminated

Niveau 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
David Peters
David Peters

In-credible.

In the biggest setup of the tournament, David Peters has scooped up a pot of over 1 million chips and ascended to a monster chip lead, taking all of Lukasz Cygan's and Randy Lew's in the process. The action started with Cygan opening to 10,000 in middle position and Lew calling from the cutoff.

David Peters three-bet to 45,000 from the small blind and Cygan called. Then, everything went haywire. Back on Lew, he opted to move all in for 323,000, which brought the action back to Peters who also shoved.

Cygan was visibly displeased with the situation at hand but couldn't get away from it. He called it off after ten seconds for his total stack of 420,000 to create the monster pot.

Randy Lew: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Lukasz Cygan: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
David Peters: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

It was the mother of all setups and Peters found himself in a dream spot. The board stayed low and ran out {8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs} to end Cygan and Lew's tournament life on the spot. Lew shook Peters hand, while Cygan just walked away in disbelief over what just happened.

Peters soared to a huge stack worth 1.6 million, double the amount of his nearest challenger.

Two Double Outs Just Before the Break

Niveau 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Josip Simunic
Josip Simunic

In the last hand of the level, two players were sent to the rail on neighboring tables.

After an under-the-gun raise, Eric Sfez called out of the small blind and Sebastian von Toperczer moved all in from the big blind for what appeared to be 65,000. The initial raiser folded and Sfez called.

Sebastian von Toperczer: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Eric Sfez: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The board came {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Sfez paired his queen to eliminate the German.

One table over, Josip Simunic raised to 9,000 first to act and was called by Andre Haneberg in the small blind and Antal Roth in the big blind. The flop came {A-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and action checked to Simunic, who continued for 13,000. Only Roth called to see the {9-Clubs} turn and the Hungarian checked, then called a second barrel for 40,000.

After the {8-Spades} river, Roth moved all in for around 65,000 and Simunic snap-called to get shown {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} by Roth. Simunic rolled over the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a flush and raked in the big pot.

Simunic Second Player Above a Million

Niveau 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

The new level started with a bang as Josip Simunic knocked out two players in a row.

Florent Estegassy was all in for around 35,000 with the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} and Simunic looked him up with the {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. The board came {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Estegassy was gone. Right after, Liwei Sun hit the rail before the action on Simunic's table escalated even further.

Mazin Khoury's raise resulted in a three-bet by Simunic and Khoury then four-bet to 105,000. Simunic used one time bank extension and moved all in, and Khoury called for 410,000 to create the second-biggest pot of the day so far.

Mazin Khoury: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Josip Simunic: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

The board came {9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Khoury left the table with his head shaking.

Wheeler Spikes the King

Niveau 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Jason Wheeler flicked it in for 69,000 from under the gun and Markku Koplimaa called one seat over after running down his clock. All other players quickly folded to create the following showdown.

Jason Wheeler: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Markku Koplimaa: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

While the {K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop gave Wheeler the king but also needed to dodge the flush draw on top of the ace. The PokerStars Championship Prague runner-up did so on the {10-Clubs} turn and {2-Spades} river and collected the chips with a grin.

Saleh Doubles Once More

Niveau 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Sadri Saleh was one of the players that survived an all in on the money bubble and has since remained with a short stack. Just now he faced a raise to 10,500 and moved all in from the cutoff for 65,500. Only Francesco Grieco in the small blind called, the initial raiser folded.

Sadri Saleh: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Francesco Grieco: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Saleh dodged the two over cards and higher flush draw to double. Ermo Kosk was less fortunate and ran out of chips at the same time on a different table.
