Vrakas Clipped; Piraux in the Tank

Niveau 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Georgios Vrakas (at an earlier event)
Georgios Vrakas (at an earlier event)

Georgios Vrakas, who won this very event back in 2017 for €330,000, has already parted with nearly two-thirds of his starting stack in the first level of the day. With a completed board of {5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, as well as an already sizable pot of over 15,000 out there, Vrakas checked after his opponent had checked first.

Vrakas' opponent tabled {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a flush and Vrakas mucked to drop to 11,000.

At another table, Romain Piraux was already facing a decision for his tournament life. He had 6,700 in front of him on a {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts} turn, met by a shove from Carlos Egea Hernandez. Piraux had 20,500 left and ultimately ended up with a dead hand after the clock ran down to zero seconds.
