Martini Chips Up With Flush

Niveau 6 : 200/500, 500 ante
Julien Martini
Julien Martini

Julien Martini had a bet of 7,000 in front of him and was sitting with his hands holding his pulled-up hoodie over his face to cover his neck and mouth as his opponent, who was on the button, thought about his decision on a board reading {3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. After well over a minute, he tossed in chips to call.

Martini tabled {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and the dealer announced his queen-high flush. The player on the button sent his cards to the muck and Martini quickly stacked the chips that were sent his way.

A Trio of Big Stacks

Niveau 6 : 200/500, 500 ante

Three players appear to be around 100k in chips and those happen to be Michel Leibgorin, Ilias Papoulas and Giorgiy Skhulukhiya. The latter finished second in the EPT Open in Sochi not long ago and seems poised for another deep run.

Chiriac Chips Up in Quick Succession

Niveau 6 : 200/500, 500 ante
George Chiriac
George Chiriac

George Chiriac sent two players to the rail and won a very healthy pot right after just before the blinds went up.

First, he had Jacques Misonne with pocket tens and Pierre-Paul Paulin with the {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts} at risk, tabling the {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} for an inferior pair. The board came {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Chiriac made a full house.

He then raised to 900 and was called by Gregory Telman in the small blind. Telman led the {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} turn for 3,000 and Chiriac raised to 7,500, which Telman called. On the {3-Hearts} river, Telman check-called a bet of 6,000 and mucked when he was shown the {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

Ujvari Fires Twice

Niveau 6 : 200/500, 500 ante

Paul Michaelis opened to 1,000 from middle position and received a call from Balazs Ujvari, who was in the cutoff. The two saw a flop of {8-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and Michaelis checked. Ujvari put out a bet of 1,800 to put action back onto Michaelis, who put in chips to call.

The turn was {2-Spades} and Michaelis checked again. Ujvari thought for a few moments and then fanned out a bet of 3,500. Michaelis took about 10 seconds and then sent his cards to the muck.

Gicovanu Gets River Value

Niveau 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

There was over 17,000 in the middle on the river with a board displaying {6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{a-Spades} and Marius Gicovanu had a bet of 12,900 out in front of him from the small blind. His opponent was in early position and thinking about her decision.

After over a minute, the player asked how much and the dealer spread out the bet before confirming the total. She called moments later.

Gicovanu immediately showed {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} and his opponent looked back at her cards, taking a few seconds before sending them to the muck.

Komplimaa Doubles Through Hart

Markku Koplimaa
Markku Koplimaa

On a completed board of {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}, Milan Hart bet 10,000 and Markku Koplimaa on the button called all-in for 9,100.

Hart tabled the {k-Spades}{2-Spades} and Koplimaa had that beat with {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. During the last EPT festival in Barcelona, Komplimaa won this very €1,100 EPT National and will try to achieve the same feat here in Prague.

Pallani Gets a Knockout

Niveau 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Salem Pallani saw action folded to him in the hijack and opened to 1,100. The cutoff three-bet to 3,100 and action folded back to Pallani, who called.

The flop dropped {2-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Pallani checked. The cutoff made a continuation-bet of 2,200 and Pallani thought for about 20 seconds before making the call. The turn brought the {a-Diamonds} and Pallani check-called another barrel of 5,000 from his opponent.

The river then fell {5-Spades}. Pallani went all in, and his opponent asked for a count which was totaled to be 25,000.

"Twenty-five thousand?" the cutoff asked again. The dealer cut out a few of the stacks that had uncertain totals and the number again added up to 25,000. A few short moments later, the player dropped in a T5,000 chip to call with four more behind, meaning he had called all in as well.

Pallani showed {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for a turned wheel and his opponent sat still, processing the fact as he seemed ready to muck. Knowing all-in situations require both hands to be shown, he reluctantly tabled his second-best hand of {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} and wished Pallani a good game as the two shook hands before he made his way from the tournament area.
