Luther Gets Big Double Through Popovic

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Nikita Luther
Nikita Luther

Nikita Luther has grown her stack significantly throughout Day 2. She started with 81,000 and has since added a zero to the end of that total.

In a recent hand, she raised under the gun to 21,000 and got calls from Arnel Popovic in middle position and Nicolas Vayssieres in the big blind.

The flop came {j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, and after Luther checked, Popovic bet 26,000. Vayssieres folded and Luther made the call.

The {4-Spades} fell on the turn, and again Luther checked to Popovic, who bet 66,000.

Luther cut out calling chips, counted the rest of her 358,000 chip stack, then announced that she was all-in.

After some brief thought, Popovic called to see bad news.

Luther turned over {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}, which had Popovic's {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} needing help on the river.

That help didn't come, as the dealer turned over the {9-Hearts}, sending Luther's stack over 800,000.

Arnaud Enselme
Arnaud Enselme

Arnaud Enselme ripped his 163,000 stack in from late position and was quickly called by Jakub Oliva from the big blind.

Arnaud Enselme: {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Jakub Oliva: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Enselme could really only hope for a chop after the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop and was unable to find a queen on the {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} runout.

Costas Hits 1M After Felting Ricci

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Maxime Costas
Maxime Costas

Maxime Costas opened from early position, with Abel Aspas calling in the hijack. Andrea Ricci jammed for 267,000 on the button and Costas went over the top as the covering stack. Aspas flashed his pocket jacks and folded.

Andrea Ricci: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Maxime Costas: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Ricci had just two outs to stay in contention following the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop. The {j-Clubs} hit the turn, to which Aspas let out a deep sigh. The {4-Diamonds} river gave Costas the pot and confirmed Ricci's exit.

Huge Three-Way Pot Sees Kyte's Stack Fly

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Jon Kyte
Jon Kyte

A massive pile of chips was separated in the middle of a three-way pot, with them soon finding their way to Jon Kyte and Eros Calderone.

Kyte raised to 17,000 under the gun, and was called by Eros Calderone to his left, and Julien Galendo in the big blind.

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} and action was checked to Kyte who continued for 28,000.

Then things got fun.

Calderone raised to 100,000, but even that wasn't enough for Galendo, who check-raised both his opponents to 300,000.

Kyte then jammed for approximately 500,000, Calderone called for less and Galendo called for his tournament life as well.

Julien Galendo: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}
Eros Calderone: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Jon Kyte: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}

Calderone was ahead with two pair, but would have to fade a pair of flush draws.

The {2-Diamonds} and {2-Clubs} fell on the turn and river, awarding the pots to Calderone with his two pair and Kyte with his pair of queens.

Avigal Drills the Turn, Eliminates a Player

Niveau 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Meir Avigal
Meir Avigal

Meir Avigal alerted PokerNews to an early hand that has vaulted him toward the chip lead.

According to Avigal, he opened to 14,000 in the hijack with {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and received calls from the players in the blinds.

On a flop of {k-}{j-}{3-}, Avigal continued for 25,000, only receiving a call from Milan Aloric in the big blind.

A {q-} fell on the turn, giving Avigal his straight, and he bet 70,000. Aloric shoved over top for approximately 170,000, which Avigal snap-called.

Aloric turned over {q-}{j-}, and an inconsequential {2-} fell on the river to vault Avigal's stack over 800,000.

Oustampasidis Ousted by Wiecek

Niveau 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Piotr Wiecek
Piotr Wiecek

The board read {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} with around 50,000 in the middle already.

Piotr Wiecek had bet first before Charilaos Oustampasidis decided to shove for around 65,000 for Wiecek to snap-call.

Charilaos Oustampasidis: {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Piotr Wiecek: {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Oustampasidis had flopped two pair and turned the full house but saw he was drawing dead as Wiecek had hit quads on the turn.

Before the river even completed the board, Oustampasidis got up from his chair to make his way to the payout desk.
