Papo MC Drops Preflop Battle of Big Stacks

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Alejandro Lococo
Alejandro Lococo

Alejandro Lococo and Akseli Paalanen have two of the biggest stacks in the room at Table 7, and just before break they went to battle.

Lococo opened to 31,000 and was three-bet by Paalanen to 110,000. Lococo came back with a four-bet to 385,000.

That still wasn't enough for Paalanen, who put in a five-bet jam for about 1.2 million.

"Papo MC" quickly tossed his cards into the muck, ceding the pot to his Finnish opponent.

A Deuce on the River Never Helped Anyone, Huh?

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

After Stefan Leenen opened the action with a raise on the button to 35,000, Anton Markov moved all-in from the small blind for approximately 200,000. Dawid Kuliberda called in the big blind, and Leenen folded.

Anton Markov: {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
Dawid Kuliberda: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

Kuliberda was well ahead with his superior pair, and stayed that way as the dealer spread {4-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} on the flop, and the {8-Spades} on the turn, but the {2-Hearts} on the river saved Markov's tournament life and put Kuliberda on a short stack.

Sitbon Takes from Palma

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

With {a-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds} on the board, Giovanni Palma checked and Julien Sitbon bet 25,000. Palma called and the turn was {q-Clubs}.

Palma check-called again when Sitbon bet 99,000 and the river was {3-Diamonds}.

Palma checked once more on the river and Sitbon bet his last 199,000. After a few moments in the tank, Palma put out a stack of chips to call.

Sitbon showed {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Palma prematurely tossed his cards in the muck. After a brief rules refresher, the dealer was unable to find the exact cards, but Palma said he had {a-}{q-}.

Sitbon has been on a massive run today and now sits above 700K after starting with 142,000.

Nawa Hits the Rail

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Petr Kubenka opened from under the gun to 35,000 and was called by Jon Kyte (middle position), Eros Calderone (hijack) and Antonios Poziadis (button).

Hiroki Nawa, in the small blind, then went deep into the tank. Over five minutes had passed until the clock was called and as the tournament director appoached the table, Nawa jammed for 204,000.

Kubenka snap-called but then instantly folded after Kyte rejammed. Action folded round and Nawa was at risk.

Hiroki Nawa: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Jon Kyte: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

Kubenka said he folded ace-king, which gave Nawa a little more hope. That hope quickly vanished as he was eliminated after the {k-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{4-Hearts} runout.

Meijer Van Putten Finishes Off Leila

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

After taking the majority of Ahmad Leila's chips in the last level, Jasper Meijer Van Putten has sent Leila to the rail.

Meijer Van Putten raised on the button and was called in the big blind by Leila, then on the {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop, Leila check-called a 30,000 chip bet from Meijer Van Putten.

On the {7-Diamonds} turn, Leila moved all-in for his final 80,000 chips, and Meijer Van Putten quickly called.

Ahmad Leila: {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Jasper Meijer Van Putten: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The {8-Hearts} on the river sealed Leila's fate as Meijer Van Putten's top pair scored him the knockout.
