Welcome to Day 1 of the €10,300 EPT High Roller
While the last 32 players of the Main Event are getting closer and closer to the title, another prestigious tournament of the festival is about to start with the €10,300 EPT High Roller at the 2023 European Poker Tour (EPT) at Casino Barcelona.
Last year, out of a field of 530 runners, Portugal's Rui Ferreira took down this tournament for €767,750 after a three-handed deal ahead of Stefan Schillhabel and Laszlo Molnar. So who'll win this year? The answer will be known after the three days of competition.

Day 1 will start at 12:30 local time. Players will have a starting stack of 50,000 chips at the beginning of the day, which will begin with blinds 100/200 and a big blind ante of 200. Then, they'll try to have more than that at the end of Level 10, as ten 60-minute levels will be played on Day 1. Only two entries are allowed, and late registrations will close at the start of Day 2.
Shot clocks will be implemented from the start of the event, with each player receiving four time banks worth 30 seconds. Also players seated at the first hand of every odd level will received an extra time bank.

Three players created a pot of 900 and the flop of A♣J♠4♠ was checked to Marco Sposito in position who fired a bet of 400. Ka Kwan Lau check-folded, while Uri Reichenstein made the call.
When the Q♣ fell on the turn, Reichenstein checked once more and Sposito continued for 600. This time Reichenstein quickly mucked.

Recep Aydemir arrived a few minutes after the start. When he sat down, he folded his big blinds, then three-bet in the small blind to 1,600 after Aleksandr Shevliakov opened from the button.
On the flop A♣J♥10♣, both players decided to check, and they tapped the table again on the turn 3♣. But on the river 7♣, Aydemir decided to bet 2,000. Shevliakov didn't seem very happy, and folded.

In a blind versus blind battle, the flop read 9♣7♥6♠ and Nikita Kalinin dropped a bet of 400 across the line. Denise Pratt made the call.
The A♣ hit the turn and both players quickly tapped the table.
However, when the 8♥ landed on the river, sparks flew as Kalinin fired abet of 500 and Pratt raised to 1,600. Kalinin three-bet to 2,700 and Pratt put in another raise to 27,600. Kalinin moved all-in and Pratt snap-called. Kalinin showed J♦10♠ while Pratt tabled J♥10♦, both rivering the nut-straight.
