Davies Doubles, Lin and Others Eliminated Again

Niveau 10 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Seth Davies
Seth Davies

With approximately 22,000 in the middle on a flop of {j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, Juan Pardo checked from the big blind to Seth Davies in the hijack who bet 15,000. Ren Lin then moved all in from the cutoff for 83,000. Pardo went into the tank, using a time bank before opting to fold.

Back on Davies, he called for less with 61,500 more behind.

Seth Davies: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Ren Lin: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Lin had run into a cooler with his kings versus Davies' aces and after the {2-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} runout, he was left with crumbs that were scooped up shortly after, ending his day for good.

Meanwhile, at an adjacent table, Stephen Chidwick gathered his belongings and left the floor with no more chips at his table, though he does have a reentry available.

Jean-Noel Thorel was also eliminated but is done for the day.

Niveau 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Kayhan Mokri
Kayhan Mokri

Kayhan Mokri raised to 5,500 in the cutoff and Sam Grafton shoved all in for 19,000 in the small blind. Mokri quickly called and the cards were on their backs.

Sam Grafton: {a-Spades}{6-Spades}
Kayhan Mokri: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Grafton was able to double up with two pair.

On the next hand, Mokri opened to 5,500 again and Grafton ripped all in for around 40,000 this time. Mokri quickly called and the cards were tabled.

Sam Grafton: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Kayhan Mokri: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

It was deemed a fair fight and the flop of {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades} hit both players but it was Mokri in the lead with a set of tens. The {j-Hearts} on the turn and the {7-Hearts} on the river was not enough for Grafton for stay alive.

Nikita Kuznetsov opened to 2,500 from under the gun and Jean-Noel Thorel reraised to 10,000 from the hijack. Sam Greenwood four-bet to 22,000 in the big blind which got Kuznetsov to fold but Thorel called.

Jean-Noel Thorel: {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Sam Greenwood: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The turn brought the {4-Spades} which narrowed Thorel's outs to just six. The {6-Hearts} on the river bricked and Thorel's stack went in Greenwood's direction.

Good Flop for Watson Proves to Not be Enough

Niveau 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Mike Watson
Mike Watson

Sam Greenwood opened to 2,500 from under the gun and was called by Steve O'Dwyer on the button. Mike Watson three-bet to 12,500 in the small blind and Greenwood responded with a four-bet to 26,000. O'Dwyer got out of the way and Watson called.

The flop came {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Watson check-called a bet of 11,000 from Greenwood. The {3-Spades} paired the board on the turn and Watson checked again. Greenwood moved all in and Watson didn't hesitate before calling off his last 45,000 chips.

Watson flipped over {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a pair and a flush draw but Greenwood held {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for the best hand at the time. The {8-Hearts} on the river bricked out and Watson was the first casualty of the day.

The €25,000 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller II Kicks Off at 12:30 p.m.

EPT Paris
EPT Paris

Another day and another high-stakes tournament at the 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris is being held at the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile in the French capital of Paris. On tap for today is the second version of the €25,000 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller single-day tournament, just hours after the first one wrapped up at nearly 3:30 a.m.

It was Chris Brewer who overcame a field of 44 entries to take home the title and the first-place prize of €357,180. Brewer outlasted Brazilian Felipe Ketzer in an epic heads-up battle that lasted into the wee hours of the night. Other players that finished inside the top six and took home some money included Daniel Dvoress, Nick Petrangelo, Ren Lin, and Orpen Kisacikoglu.

These players along with many of the other usual suspects are expected to return to the felt for another high-stakes battle with plenty of euros up for grabs. This is all just a lead-up to the €50,000 EPT Super High Roller that will be getting underway tomorrow in the larget buy-in event of the festival.

The structure will be the same as yesterday with the cards going in the air at 12:30 p.m. local time and a starting stack being worth 100,000 chips. For all of those players seated at the start of play, they will be reimbursed 50% of the registration fee. The blinds will begin at 500/1,000 with a 1,000 big blind ante and the levels will be 30 minutes in length.

Late registration will remain open for 10 levels with a single reentry option available throughout that period. However, based on the players' requests, the dinner break has been moved to after Level 13, therefore the late registration period will be closed at approximately 6:00 p.m. The shot clock will be in play from the start with each player receiving four time banks plus an additional time bank after every two levels.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be back on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates as the action unfolds en route to crowning another champion later tonight.
