Helou Escapes From a Big Setup

Mark Helou raised to 22,000 on the button, Cheng Zhao three-bet to 64,000 in the small blind, and Helou called.

The flop came 7♥9♥4♥ and Zhao bet 80,000. Helou called and the 10♣ fell on the turn.

Zhao continued for 110,000 and Helou again called. The river was the K♦ and Zhao slowed down and checked.

Helou also checked and Zhao turned over K♥K♣ for a rivered set. Helou showed him 10♠10♥ as a collective gasp arose from the other players at the table.

"Great check back," tablemate Govert Metaal told Helou as Zhao tapped the felt to acknowledge the fact that Helou saved himself from losing an even bigger pot.

Thiriart Falls to Pereira
