Katykhin Turns a Pair to Double
Niveau 7
: Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Mikhail Katykhin raised to 1,400 from under the gun and Andreas Economou called in the small blind before Bugra Barin made a squeeze to around 5,500 from the big blind. Katykhin called, and Economou folded.
On the 10♠6♠4♦ board, the rest of the chips went in very quickly with Katykhin at risk for his stack of around 15,000.
Mikhail Katykhin: 8♦7♦
Bugra Barin: A♣Q♣
Katykhin had just a gutshot straight draw and decided to risk it all, but he was rewarded as he turned a pair with the 7♥ and the 2♠ river bricked out. Barin gave his opponent a stare then forked over the chips, which left him with less than ten big blinds.
