Chirap had to win the flip to stay alive, but it didn't seem likely after the 4♣Q♣Q♥ flop, as the pocket eights of Kaufmann kept their lead.

A 9♦ on the turn added a gutshot straight draw for Chirap and some counterfeit outs, as any nine would give him two pair with a higher kicker.

Chirap stayed alive on the J♥ river as he paired his jack, which gave him a lifeline and sent Kaufmann deep into the danger zone.
