Alexander Zubov: AJ

Zubov was dominated but picked up chop outs on the K33 flop. However, the 9 turn and 5 river confirmed Vaskaboinikau's double-up, which left the former with just 85,000.

Jamil Wakil
Jamil Wakil

Jamil Wakil quadrupled up to 20,000 the previous hand but was still forced all in from the small blind. Adrian Mateos then raised to 100,000 under the gun and Alexander Zubov called in the big blind.

Mateos and Zubov checked to the river on a board of Q987K where Zubov led out for 100,000. Mateos folded and Zubov showed 75 for a flush.

"Oh, wow. I had a pair," Wakil said as he tossed 22 into the muck before making his exit in sixth place.

Wakil on Less Than a Big Blind

Niveau 18 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Jamil Wakil QJ raised to 200,000 from under the gun, leaving 100,000 behind, and Adrian Mateos AJ called from the cutoff.

On the 873 flop, Wakil checked, and Mateos bet 95,000. Wakil called to leave one T-5,000 chip left behind. The 8 turn and 2 river checked through to showdown to leave Wakil forced all-in from the big blind in the next hand.

On the next deal. Roman Hrabec limped in from the cutoff before Martirosian made it 200,000 from the button. Hrabec folded for Martirosian's and Wakil's cards to go on their backs.

Jamil Wakil: 74All in
Artur Martirosian: Q6

Neither player connected on the K52 flop, but Wakil paired up to take the lead on the 4 turn. He avoided elimination on the 5 river and remained in contention.

Final Table About to Begin

The players are getting mic'd up and taking their seats on the main feature stage inside the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa, and action is about to get underway.

Hrabec and Martirosian Among Those Looking to Catch Mateos in $50,000 Super High Roller Finale

Roman Hrabec

The field of 47 entries of the $50,000 Super High Roller at the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Cyprus is down to its final six players, who are vying for the coveted trophy and $786,570 first-place prize.

Spain's Adrian Mateos, holds nearly half of the chips in play and finds himself as the runaway leader over his five other competitors and is leading the charge to another major title. Mateos, who crossed the $50 million live earnings mark last week, spun his short stack into the chip lead after an incredible heater on Day 2.

Coming into the finale second in chips is Czech prodigy Roman Hrabec, and is someone who is no stranger to the bright lights of a feature table at the Merit Royal Hotel Casino & Spa. Hrabec took down a $25K event at the EPT's host venue in August, just a few months after winning a Triton Poker Main Event for $4,330,000 in South Korea. Despite plenty of accolades, Hrabec has yet to be the last player standing under the EPT umbrella, although he has come close. At EPT London in 2022, he finished as the runner-up in the £2,200 UKIPT High Roller and then put in a deep run in the EPT London Main Event, where he finished fourth for $257,517. Is it now Hrabec's time to shine?

Artur Martirosian is the only other player returning with more than 40 big blinds and rounds out the top three chip counts. Martirosian, like Mateos, is an EPT Main Event champion and did so at 22 years old. He reigned supreme at EPT Sochi in 2021, the launchpad to his almost $16 in live tournament earnings. As well as being a titan on the live felt, Martirosian is a feared competitor in the online sphere, where more millions have padded his bankroll.

Mikalai Vaskaboinikau, Alexander Zubov and Jamil Wakil complete the bottom half of the chip leaderboard but will need to pull off their own comeback stories, with each of them holding less than 15 big blinds when play gets back underway.

Plan for Day 3; Super High Roller Payouts

The six players will reconvene for the livestreamed final table at 12:30 p.m. local time. There is 41:19 remaining on the clock in Level 18, with blinds at 25,000/50,000 and a 50,000 big blind ante. The PokerNews live updates will be delayed to keep in sync with the stream, which begins at 1 p.m.

The tournament will continue until a champion is crowned, with each participant already guaranteed a six-figure payday.
