Jachtmann Tops Day 1 of the PLO High Roller at King's

Niveau 6 : 400/800, 0 ante
Jan-Peter Jachtmann

One of the first major live poker tournaments on European soil after the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has wrapped up for the night as the €2,500 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller tournament at the King's Resort and Casino in Rozvadov attracted a field of 34 entries thus far.

After six short-lived and action-packed levels of 30 minutes each, former WSOP PLO bracelet winner Jan-Peter Jachtmann topped the overnight counts with a stack of 210,000. Second in chips is fellow German Pedjman Hamie with 182,000 and Jonas Kronwitter takes the final spot on the podium with a stack of 165,800.

Further big stacks and notables that made the cut among the 19 survivors are Andre Ellbracht (140,000), Roger Hairabedian (136,600), Roman Cieslik (67,700), Han Kuo (58,800), Jules Ayoub (47,500), and Eric Lescot (39,700). Willm Engelke fired three entries so far without success and he was joined on the rail by Wlodzimierz Laczkowski, King's regular The Talk and Michael Rohde.

Jachtmann entered the mix in the second level of the day and by then, Jules Ayoub had already seen his stack decimated. Both know each other very well from PLO cash game and tournament tables and it certainly came as no surprise when they clashed. Jachtmann eventually called correctly with two pair to bust Ayoub and took over the lead, he then continued his domination by sending another two players to the rail and remained in the top three for the remainder of the night.

Over on the third table it was Pedjman Hamie that first survived in a three-way all-in with tens full, then knocked out Tuncay Tutus and Saeed Rehman to take over the top spot. A late double for Andre Ellbracht cut into the big stack of Hamie, who ended Day 1 as second in chips.

While the action on Day 1 was already filled with lots of table banter and raising wars, the pace for both may be even higher in the first four levels of Day 2 as of 2 p.m. local time thanks to the available late registration and unlimited re-entries. At least two players already bought in with a fresh stack of 50,000 and several other notables are expected to take part, the blinds will recommence at 500/1,000.

It was a busy day in the poker arena at King's Resort as 425 entries emerged in the €150 Big Saturday Monsterstack and around two dozen cash game tables were running for most of the evening. Stay tuned to find out who else will join the PLO tournament action as the PokerNews team will provide updates for the remainder of the tournament.

Elbracht Doubles Through Hamie

Andre Ellbracht

The turn showed {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Pedjman Hamie bet 23,000 in the hijack and Andre Ellbracht called in the cutoff. Franz Doblinger sigh-folded and the {9-Diamonds} rolled off on the river.

Hamie studied the remaining stack of his opponent who had 30,800 behind and eventually bet more than that, Ellbracht quickly called all-in.

Hamie only had {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Ellbracht scored the double with {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for the second nuts.

Jachtmann Busts Engelke

Niveau 3 : 200/400, 0 ante

With an enormous pot of more than 65,000 already in the middle, the turn showed {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Willm Engelke faced the shove of Jan-Peter Jachtmann. Engelke had around 45,000 behind and made the call after some deliberation.

Willm Engelke: {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Jan-Peter Jachtmann: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

Jachtmann had the nut straight and nut flush draw, which left Engelke in need of a six or five only. Instead it came the {3-Diamonds} on the river and Engelke bowed out.

Jachtmann Felts Ayoub

Niveau 2 : 100/300, 0 ante
Jules Ayoub
Jules Ayoub

Jan-Peter Jachtmann and Jules Ayoub know each other from various PLO tournament and cash game sessions, and it came as no surprise to see both go at each other early on.

The short-handed table brought three-way action to the {8-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Spades}{j-Hearts} turn on which Predrag Vulovic checked and Jachtmann bet 5,000. Ayoub check-raised the pot for 16,400 and Jachtmann was the only caller.

After the {8-Diamonds} river, Ayoub jammed for 17,600 and Jachtmann inquired "can I still think while I show my cards?" while then addressing Ayoub with a "after all that is your specialty".

"Do whatever you want," Ayoub replied and indeed Jachtmann turned over his {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades} already. It took nearly one and a half minutes until he made the call and Ayoub shook his head, flashing {j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for counterfeited two pair and a busted fludhdraw.

Live poker tournaments are back in one of Europe's biggest card rooms and the first major tournament with a six-digit prize pool will kick off today at 8 p.m. local time at the King's Resort and Casino in Rozvadov, host of the World Series of Poker Europe in the last few years.

The past few days and weeks already saw some smaller events kick off and the VIP Invitational with €100,000 in guaranteed prizes currently plays down to a champion. All four-card lovers will battle for at least the same amount in cash prizes but it would not be a surprise to see a decent field emerge in the €2,500 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller, which is slated to determine a winner this weekend.

Day 1 will be a rather short affair as only six levels of 30 minutes are foreseen and the late registration will be available in the early stages of Day 2 when the action gets back underway at 2 p.m. local time on Sunday, June 21st 2020 with another four levels of 30 minutes to take a shot at the PLO action.

Several big names are expected to take part in the tournament such as the WSOP bracelet winners Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Jan-Peter Jachtmann, former football striker Sergej Barbarez, Tony G, Harry Casagrande, and cash game player Yusuf Kurt who won the €2,000 PLO event at the 2014 Poker EM.

All players will start with 50,000 in chips and the level duration for the entire tournament is set to 30 minutes each. Unlimited re-entries are available throughout the first ten levels and and action of the final day will also be streamed at some point. Poker fans from all over the world can already enjoy NLHE cash game action today on the King's Resort Twitch channel.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor to provide updates from start to finish
