Van de Venne Loses to Quads

Niveau 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

Luuk Gieles in the cutoff was involved in the pot before André van de Venne on the button raised to 800. The small blind cold called, Gieles called as well.

All three players checked the {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop and {8-Hearts} turn before the {A-Diamonds} completed the board. The small blind bet 4,000 and Gieles folded instantly. Van de Venne called just as quick, showing {A-Spades}{K-Spades} but that hand turned out to be no good as the small blind tabled {8-Clubs}{K-Clubs} for quads.

Despite losing the pot, Van de Venne is still one of the bigger stacks in the tournament.

Hoekendijk Folds Aces

Niveau 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

We arrived on the flop as Mark van der Loo checked on {7-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Albert Hoekendijk, WSOPE bracelet winner and recent MCOP side event champion, bet 1,000. Van der Loo called.

The {Q-Hearts} hit the turn and Van der Loo, sitting in middle position, bet out 1,700. It appeared as if Hoekendijk intended to call, but he used too many chips and was forced to raise to 3,400 from the hijack position.

Van der Loo got back with a three-bet and made it 11,700 to go. Hoekendijk did a double take on his cards and eventually open mucked {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}. Van der Loo mucked as he raked in the chips.
