A new group of players try to track down Peng Yang’s million-chip stack and book their ticket for Day 2 when Day 1b of the $2,200 Warm Up at the Merit Poker Western Series begins at noon local time.
China’s Yang set a near-impossible standard to match during the first startling flight, finishing with 1,086,000 and far ahead of the 47 players who made it through the day. Other big stacks include Hadi Khordbin (781,000), Roman Stoica (552,500), Qiang Xu (536,000), and Xixiang Luo (503,500).

Andrea Dato (499,000), Koray Korkmaz (358,500), as well as WSOP bracelet winners Guoliang Wei (366,500) and Simone Andrian (335,500) also survived the opening flight. Now it’s the task of players in today’s flight to join them.
Day 1b is the second of four starting flights. There is also a 1c flight tonight at 9:30 p.m. with 25-minute levels, while a turbo Day 1d flight takes place tomorrow at 10 a.m. with 15-minute levels. The surviving players then return for Day 2 at 12:30. Late registration remains open until the end of Level 12 on Day 2. Unlimited reentries are allowed during the registration period, so the field should grow considerably from the 115 entries so far by the time the prize pool is determined.
Players begin with a 100,000 starting stack. Day 1b consists of eight 60-minute levels, with a 15-minute break every two levels.

Four players saw a flop of 7♣3♠A♣ when Burak Gozbak bet 5,500 from the cutoff. Only Tanju Karayigit called on the button.
The turn was the J♠ and Gozbak bet 7,800. Karayigit again called and the 8♥ fell on the river.
Gozbak slowed down and checked, and Karayigit bet 12,500. Gozbak snap-called and Karayigit instantly tossed his hand into the muck. Gozbak showed A♥K♥ as he took the pot.

Houayek then led out for 20,000 and Tot spent a minute considering the decision before calling. Houayek flipped over A♣4♠ for a full house and Tot mucked.

Morad Qushqar raised to 1,700 in middle position, Sultan Meirbekov three-bet to 3,500 in the cutoff, and Qushqar called.
The flop came 4♦6♣5♥ and Meirbekov continued for 3,000. Qushqar called and the 2♥ fell on the turn.
Meirbekov then bet another 5,000 and Qushqar again called. The river was the K♣ and Qushqar checked over to Meirbekov again, and this time Meirbekov checked back.
Qushqar showed A♦J♠, but Meirbekov had A♠5♦ for a pair of fives to win the pot.

Warde called and the 6♥ fell on the river. Guven then led out for 36,000 and Warde called, only for Guven to show K♥9♥ for a flush to win the big pot.

Kaukua spent a minute staring her down before calling. Lie showed K♥7♠ for a missed straight draw, while Kaukua turned over 10♠8♥ for a pair of eights to win the pot.
