PCA National Champ Maria Konnikova Falls in 42nd Place

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova

Maria Konnikova, who a few days back rocked the poker world by winning the 2018 PCA National, started today dead last in chips, and unfortunately, she wasn't able to spin it up.

In what would be her final hand, Aleksandr Milyaev raised to 17,000 from the cutoff and Konnikova reraised all in on the button for her last 51,000. Chip leader Karl Stark then four-bet to 100,000 and called when Milyaev moved all in for 247,000.

Stark: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Konnikova: {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Milyaev: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

Konnikova needed a lot of help, but it never came as the board ran out a lowly {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. With that, Konnikova hit the rail in 42nd place while Milyaev more than doubled.

Weis Strikes Gold to Double Through Stashin

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Action folds around to the cutoff where Oliver Weis moves all in for 125,000 total. Action folds to Michael Stashin in the big blind and he calls quickly.

Stashin: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Weis: {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}

The flop is a disaster for Stashin and a miracle for Weis when it comes {J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} giving Weis just the set he needs.

"I just can't beat you man," Stashin says. "You always suck out on me. Come on, nine!"

The board completes with no nine though when it comes {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, and that allows Weis to double up.

"Ten! Vamos! Very Good"

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Michael Stashin opened for 20,000 and his neighbor Adalfer Morales Gamarra three-bet to 47,000. From the big blind, Oliver Weis cold four-bet to 220,000, leaving himself 38,000 behind. Stashin folded, Gamarra called.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Weiss pushed. Gamarra beat him to the pot.

Adalfer Morales Gamarra: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Oliver Weis: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}

As the cameras started taping, and a small crowd gathered, the dealer burned and turned the meaningless {Q-Spades}.

In full anticipation of the double up, Weiss saw the {10-Diamonds} hit the river.

"Ten!" Gamarra shouted, "Vamos! Very good!"

As Weiss left, Gamarra said he was only thinking about tens and got what he wanted.

Deas Eliminated by Coupal

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Catching up to the action on the turn, Calum Deas has already moved all in and was called by Daniel Coupal. The board shows {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Deas is all in for a bit more than 100,000.

Deas: {A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Coupal: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

Deas has a pair and a flush draw, but he's still behind Coupal who had flopped two pair. The river comes down the {9-Hearts} and it doesn't help Deas at all. He hits the rail allowing Coupal to take down the pot and move close to 600,000 chips.

Kisacikoglu Doubles

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Orpen Kisacikoglu
Orpen Kisacikoglu

From the hijack, Orpen Kisacikoglu opened for 16,000 and he got called by both Christian Banz (small blind) and Michael Stashin (big blind).

The blinds checked to Kisacikoglu on {Q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and he bet 19,000. Banz check-raised to 100,000 and Stashin folded. Kisacikoglu moved in for about 40,000 more and Banz called.

Orpen Kisacikoglu: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Christian Banz: {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}

The {7-Diamonds} on the turn and {J-Diamonds} on the river were no threat for Kisacikoglu and he doubled up.

Banz remarked he put Kisacikoglu on ace-king while Stashin commented multiple times he had {Q-}{J-} and would have seen the river had Banz not check-raised the flop.

Rudolph Wins a Big Flip to Eliminate Kirsch

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

A preflop confrontation leads to Richard Kirsch being all in and at risk against Christian Rudolph creating a massive pot.

Rudolph: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Kirsch: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

It looks good for Kirsch when the {A-Clubs} appears in the window, but it is followed by the {Q-Diamonds} and the {9-Diamonds} giving Rudolph a set. The turn is the {Q-Hearts} which gives Rudolph quads and sealing the deal. The river is the meaningless {10-Diamonds} and that's it for Kirsch who hits the rail while Rudolph has already more than doubled his stack today.
