Kulev Knocks Out Hunichen

Niveau 15 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Chris Hunichen opened under the gun to 20,000 and was then three-bet to 60,000 by Alex Kulev in the cutoff. Action folded back around to Hunichen who then moved all in and was snap-called by Kulev, putting Hunichen at risk.

Chris Hunichen: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Alex Kulev: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

"Good luck," someone at the table told Hunichen, "Thanks, I'm going to need it," he replied when he saw what he was up against.

The flop of {4-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{10-Spades} left Hunichen drawing slim, and the {q-Clubs} on the turn replaced his jack outs to only king outs for the straight. The river was especially brutal as it was the {j-Clubs} to give him the previously needed jack but that meant it gave Kulev the straight.

Hunichen exited the tournament area as Kulev was pushed the pot to boost his stack to over 700,000.

Seidel Falls to Adams

Niveau 15 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

Erik Seidel was down to around 55,000 when he open-shoved from middle position and was called by the bigger-stacked Timothy Adams in the cutoff to put the Poker Hall of Famer at risk.

Erik Seidel: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Timothy Adams: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

It looked like Seidel may survive the flip as the flop landed {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, but the {a-Spades} on the turn gave Adams the lead before the {k-Clubs} bricked off on the river.

Seidel was the subject of a recent PokerNews feature that focused on the poker legend's creative side, including a deep passion for music and theater. Check out "The Endlessly Creative Side of Poker Hall of Famer Erik Seidel" here.

Jaffe Scores Double Knockout; Rockets to Massive Chip Lead

Niveau 15 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jonathan Jaffe
Jonathan Jaffe

Buckle up for this one...

Jonathan Jaffe opened to 18,000 and was called by Jean-Noel Thorel, but then David Yan moved all in for 94,000. Pascal Lefrancois then reshoved for 148,000 and the action was back on Jaffe who also moved all in, covering the other players.

Thorel then decided it was best to get out of the way and the three hands were tabled, with Yan and Lefrancois at risk.

David Yan: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Pascal Lefrancois: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Jonathan Jaffe: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} to give Jaffe the win, scoring the double knockout to take the huge pot. Jaffe is now sitting at over a million chips and is the tournament's clear chip leader.

Tamas Adamszki was all in and at risk for 77,000 against the bigger stack Chris Hunichen.

Tamas Adamszki: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Chris Hunichen: {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Adamszki had Hunichen dominated and took a big lead on the {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Spades} before the board finished out {7-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} to earn Adamszki the double.

Hunichen entered the day second in chips but has dwindled a bit in the first few hours of play.

Jared “BeamDoctorPoker” Halter Streams PokerStars Platinum Pass Invitational Victory

Niveau 14 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Jared Halter
Jared Halter

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) is happening now, and later this month the PokerStars Players NLH Hold’em Championship (PSPC) will take place January 30-February 3. One man who will be heading to the Bahamas is 41-year-old Jared “BeamDoctorPoker” Halter, who won a Platinum Pass on PokerStars Michigan.

“I won a PSPC Platinum Pass on Wednesday, November 9,” Halter told PokerNews. “I had just returned from Vegas that morning on a red eye flight and slept for four hours on a friend’s couch before I drove home for two hours. To be honest, I was very fortunate to win because I had a very rough 72 hours. Some things happened in Vegas that caused me to have anxiety attacks for the first time in my life and I ended up only sleeping about five hours total in the previous 48.”

He continued: “I was exhausted and when the MTT started, I said to myself, it will take a miracle for me to win. Funny enough, I mis-clicked two different times early in the tourney and called three-bets with hands like 85o (I did not win those hands). I streamed the tourney, and only single tabled it, because of how tired and ungrounded I felt from the previous time. During the stream, I talked about how exhausted I was and how there was almost zero chance I win. Of course, as we know, the universe had a different plan.”
