Byron Kaverman
Byron Kaverman

Byron Kaverman raised to 90,000 before Justin Bonomo made it 275,000. The rest of the table got out of the way before Kaverman followed them into the muck.

A few moments later, Sam Greenwood surveyed David Yan's stack before he raised to 80,000. Yan called from the big blind and the flop was {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. Yan check-called a 50,000 bet from Greenwood and the turn was {j-Spades}. Yan checked again, but this time folded when Greenwood started to put T-25,000 chips into the pot.

Bonomo picked up a few more chips a few hands later when he raised to 250,000 and took down the blinds.

Kaverman Takes Big Pot From Thorel; Brewer Bows Out

Niveau 15 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Chris Brewer
Chris Brewer

Action was heads up with a giant pot in the middle and {3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades} on the board when Byron Kaverman was facing a raise to 450,000 from the button. Kaverman had 175,000 out there and he added the chips to call. The river was {7-Hearts} and both players checked. Thorel turned over {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, but Kaverman had {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} to take the pot.

On the next hand, Chris Brewer raised to 175,000, leaving just 10,000 behind. Action folded around and Artur Martirosian called from the big blind. The flop was {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Brewer got his last 10,000 into the middle and the cards were turned up.

Chris Brewer: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Artur Martirosian: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The board finished up with no help for Brewer and he was out of the tournament in eighth place. The remaining seven players are now jockeying for six spots in the money.

Jean-Noel Thorel Leads Final 8 Players in 2023 PCA $250,000 Super High Roller

Welcome to the last and final day of the highest buy in event at the 2023 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure at the beautiful Baha Mar Resort.

A total of 39 entries joined the field over the last two days and after the dust settled on Day 2, it was French businessman Jean-Noel Thorel who claimed the top spot in the $250,000 PSPC Super High Roller.

Only eight players remain in the hunt for PCA glory and the lions share of the massive $9,498,060 prize pool. The top six will find a return on their investment with the winner taking home a whopping $3,276,760.

Thorel comes into Day 3 with a stack of 2,295,000 but close on his heels is Canadian Sam Greenwood (1,755,000) and long-time chip leader David Yan (1,675,000) to round out the top three. Thorel, who is no stranger to these high-roller fields, has close to $8 million in live earnings and recently finished in eighth place only a week ago in Event #31: $25,000 8-Handed for $220,700.

Fourth on the overnight leaderboard is rising Russian star Artur Martirosian with 1,295,000, who finished third in the 2023 PCA $10,300 Main Event just a few days ago. All-time money leader Justin Bonomo already tasted success during the series as well and advanced with a healthy stack of 1,090,000.

Many big pots took place on the penultimate day and one that skyrocketed Thorel's stack was during the last level of the night when he cracked two ace-kings with king-queen suited to rise near the top of the leaderboard. He would then keep his foot on the gas pedal to finish the night with 92 big blinds to put to work today.
