Welcome to Day 1 of the $250,000 PokerStars Players Championship Super High Roller at the beautiful Baha Mar Resort. This is the highest buy in event of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and will be sure to attract the best in the world.
Isaac Haxton took down the $100,000 version of this event at the beginning of the series for $1,082,230 and will look to capture another Super High Roller title in this one starting at 9 p.m. EST.
Haxton, who is no stranger to these fields, has had as good of a start to the new year as anyone could hope for after taking down a PokerGO Cup $50,000 High Roller in Las Vegas for $598,000 earlier this month.
This prestigious three-day event will see players start with 250,000 in chips and blind levels are one hour in length, with blinds starting at 500/1,000 and a 1,000 big blind ante. This is a unlimited reentry format with late registration and rebuys open until the end of Level 9 on Day 2. Tonight, players will play four levels before bagging up for Day 2 on February 1st at 2 p.m. EST.
The shot clock will be in play from the start of the tournament with 20 seconds to act preflop while registration is open and 30 seconds to act preflop once it is closed. All later streets will be 30 seconds in length throughout the tournament. Something new that PokerStars is implementing is that each new entry will receive four time banks and then one additional time bank at the end of each level.
The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates throughout the tournament en route to crowning a champion when millions of dollars will be handed out.
There's a short delay in starting as the players are getting settled. The action will begin momentarily.
Action is now underway and the cards are in the air in Event #53: $250,000 Super High Roller.

Artur Martirosian opened to 2,500 from under the gun and it folded to Andrew Lichtenberger in the cutoff who three-bet to 9,000. Martirosian put in a four-bet to 26,000 and Lichtenberger made the call.
The flop came and Martirosian checked to Lichtenberger who bet out 12,500. Martirosian took a moment before putting in a check-raise to 45,000, which Lichtenberger called.
On the turn Martirosian continued the aggression with a sizing to 30,000, and again Lichtenberger came along. The completed the board and Martirosian moved all in for 165,000, putting Lichtenberger deep in the tank.
After using three time bank cards, Lichtenberger tossed in a chip for the call and the hands were tabled. Martirosian rolled over for the nut-flush and Lichtenberger flashed for the cracked cowboys. Lichtenberger was left with only three big blinds after the massive hand for Martirosian.

The action folded to Rob Yong in the cutoff, who jokingly asked the table "what can I open for here?" before making it 2,500 to go. Both Aleksejs Ponakovs and Michael Addamo came along from the blinds.
The action checked through on a board of and Ponakovs tabled for two pair and the winning hand.
"Wow no 2,000 value bet?" said Yong to Ponakovs who smiled while he collected his chips.
