Vainqueur de l'Event #2 pour 900.000$ et de l'Event #5 pour 1.512.000$, Sontheimer a empoché 306.000$ pour sa quatrième place sur l'Event #1 et 117.000$ pour sa 5e place sur l'Event #4. Ces résultats lui ont permis de terminer en tête du général et de repartir avec la Veste qui fait office de trophée.
Face aux meilleurs joueurs du monde, l'Allemand a régalé. Il compte désormais 31 places payées depuis 2015, dont 18 sur des tournois High-Roller. Disputé sur trois jours, l'ultime événement du Poker Masters ne concernait que les six derniers survivants. Assuré de gagner le général, Sontheimer a débuté le head's up en étant derrière. Le duel contre son compatriote et ami va pourtant tourner à son avantage : "C'était vraiment intéressant de jouer contre lui car je sais qu'il est plus fort que moi en head's up. Il m'a battu comme u champion", a concédé Christner après sa défaite.
