McDonald Busts Newey

Niveau 5 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

As we arrived, Paul Newey had all of his 50,800 already in the middle and Mike McDonald had his stack of over 180,000 in there as well. Vladimir Troyanovskiy had chips invested already but eventually folded.

Paul Newey: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Mike McDonald: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}

McDonald showed his aces first and said "That's bad news for you" when Newey showed his {A-Spades} first, followed by the {Q-Spades}. Newey remembered someone beating his red aces with ace-queen back in Prague two weeks ago and was still somewhat hopeful he could repeat that feat.

The {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts} brought him halfway there, but the {8-Diamonds} on the turn and {5-Diamonds} on the river were blanks and Newey made his exit.

Colman Busts Kaverman to Climb

Niveau 6 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Dan Colman
Dan Colman

One of the biggest stacks in the $50,000 Single Entry High Roller right now is definitely Dan Colman. The man who completely dominated the tournament results in 2014 has already started 2017 with a bang, having come third in the Super High Roller for $759,660!

Colman bet 7,000 and was shoved on by Kaverman for 70,400 total. Colman called fairly quickly and turned over {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} . Kaverman was way behind with {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and there he stayed through the board of {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{J-Spades}{J-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} .

Although eliminated, Kaverman has bought back in already for his second attempt, while Colman is now one of the biggest stacks in the room with 245,000 chips at the new blinds in Level 6 of 1,500/3,000/500.

McDonald Check-Raises

Niveau 5 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Steve O'Dwyer was first to act and raised to 5,000. Big blind Mike McDonald called.

McDonald check-called a bet of 6,000 on the {J-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop and 16,000 on the {9-Diamonds} turn. McDonald checked a third time on the {2-Diamonds} river and O'Dwyer bet 50,000. McDonald shoved for 62,600 and O'Dwyer added the 12,600 more to call. McDonald showed {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} for the rivered full house and O'Dwyer open mucked his {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

Zaichenko Busted; Heath Back

Niveau 5 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Andrey Zaichenko had his last 26,300 in from middle position, and Stephen Chidwick put him at risk from the big blind.

Chidwick: {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Zaichenko: {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out in Chidwick's favor: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Zaichenko took his leave, while Ben Heath walked in with a freshly bought stack, having used his reentry.

Perkins and McKeehen Crushing Early

Niveau 5 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Bill Perkins defended his big bind from an Oleksii Khoroshenin cutoff open and checked a {j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. Khoroshenin bet 6,000 and Perkins made it 18,000 to go. Khoroshenin called, and Perkins jammed on the {9-Spades} turn. Khoroshenin considered briefly and mucked.

At another table, we found Joe McKeehen sliding forward a big bet of 57,000 on a board of {8-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Big blind Justin Bonomo quickly cut out calling chips and slid them in. McKeehen turned over {j-Spades}{9-Spades} ad Bonomo immediately showed what looked like {k-}{9-} before realizing it wasn't a chop as McKeehen held a jack-high straight. The pink-haired American mucked, and the former World Series of Poker champ added to stack that's challenging for the lead.
