Quenneville and Jiang Take from Petrangelo

Niveau 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Troy Quenneville raised to 47,000 and Nick Petrangelo on the button as well as Sosia Jiang in the big blind called. On the {10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, Jiang checked and Quenneville continued for 42,000. Petrangelo then raised it up to 150,000 and Jiang quickly folded, while Quenneville called.

After the {2-Hearts} turn, Quenneville check-called another 325,000 before checking the {5-Diamonds} river. Petrangelo checked behind and was shown {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for quad deuces by Quenneville.

One hand later in the final hand of the level, Petrangelo raised to 45,000 in the cutoff and Jiang three-bet to 125,000 in the small blind Petrangelo came along, but then folded to a continuation bet worth 200,000 on a flop of {A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} to drop further in the chip counts.

Lai Takes From Bansal

Niveau 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Ben Lai had been pretty quiet at the final table but his tournament is now moving in the right direction. Pre-flop Lai raised it up to 45,000 from the button and Bansal defended from the big blind to take play heads-up to a 8d7c4s] flop.

Both players checked and the dealer burned and turned the {j-Diamonds}, which brought a bet of 55,000 from the Indian player. Lai quickly called and the {10-Spades} completed the river, bringing four to a straight.

This slowed Bansal down and he checked the action over to Lai, who looked at him calculatingly before reaching for chips and sliding out a bet of 160,000.

Bansal ran the shot clock down to 10-seconds before throwing out the call, but could only muck when Lai turned over {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for the rivered straight.

Dan Smith Eliminated in 6th Place (HK$895,000)

Niveau 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Sosia Jiang (left) and Dan Smith
Sosia Jiang (left) and Dan Smith

Sosia Jiang is on fire at the moment and has just gunned down another player, with the unfortunate Dan Smith in her crosshairs this time around.

It was Jiang who was the initial raiser, making it 45,000 from the button before Smith shipped in the rest of his chips from the small blind for a shove of 566,000 in total. Jiang called quickly and it was race time.

Dan Smith: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Sosia Jiang: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

Smith found no help on the {4-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop and his tournament came to a close when the {10-Hearts} turn and {6-Clubs} river completed the hand. Jiang stacked up to 2.74 million while Smith headed for the exit to collect the equivalent of US$116,350.

A Couple of Small Pots

Niveau 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Ben Lai raised to 45,000 from under the gun and Raghal Bansal called in the cutoff. On a flop of {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}, both players checked. Lai then bet the {8-Hearts} turn for 70,000 and Bansal folded.

One hand later, Nick petrangelo raised to 45,000 and Sosia Jiang called, as did Lai in the big blind. The flop of {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} was checked to Petrangelo and he bet 55,000, which only Jiang called. On the {4-Clubs} turn, Petrangelo checked and folded to Jiang's bet worth 65,000.

Then, Petrangelo made it 70,000 to go in the small blind and Bansal defended the big blind. On the {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop, Petrangelo's bet worth 50,000 was called before the {K-Hearts} turn went check, check. On the {A-Hearts} river, the American poker pro checked and Bansal took it down with a bet of 100,000.

Sergey Lebedev Eliminated in 7th Place (HK$652,000)

Niveau 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Sergey Lebedev
Sergey Lebedev

The final table is now down to six with the departure of Russia’s Sergey Lebedev. Pre-flop it was Ben Lai who lit the blue touch paper with an early position open to 45,000 before Lebedev juiced it up to 120,000 from the button.

Neighbouring Jiang, sitting in the small blind reached for chips, but not for calling with and she three-bet to 350,000 in total. Lai quickly folded and action was back on Lebedev who quickly moved his remaining chips into the middle and was called instantly by Jiang.

Sergey Lebedev: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Sosia Jiang: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

The Russian was trailing to Jiang’s pocket rockets and found no help when the board ran out {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and hit the rail in seventh place for HK$652,000 (~US$84,760). All remaining six players are now guaranteed at least HK$895,000 (~US$116,350)

Jiang Wins From Bansal

Niveau 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Raghav Bansal is not getting the start he wanted here in the HK$103,000 High Roller and has just lost a pot to Sosia Jiang.

Pre-flop it was Bansal making it 45,000 to go from the button with Jiang choosing to defend from the big blind.

Both players checked the {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop with Bansa firing for 40,000 on the {10-Diamonds} turn, which Jiang again called to bring the action to the {q-Diamonds} river.

Now Jiang decided to seize control of the hand, leading out for 150,000 and is looked up by a suspicious Bansal, who can only muck when Jiang turned over {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a rivered two pairs.
