Haxton Falls to Korenev

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Isaac Haxton could not recover from the hit he took at the hands of Sergio Aido earlier and has just departed the High Roller area but was kind enough to tell us the details of his demise on his way out.

“I was down to 10 big blinds and got it in with ace-ten and Roman Korenev called with pocket eights and I didn’t hit,” confirmed Haxton as he wandered out of the poker room with Richard Yong.

New Faces and Bustouts

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Matas Cimbolas and Steve O'Dwyer are among the recent additions to the field and O'Dwyer, without any lucky fruit thus far, has already been able to run up his stack slightly. Andrew Graham was among the players to fire a second bullet and that also applies for Tao Fan, while Egor Bulychev has been eliminated.

Kim Busts in Three-Way All In

Niveau 4 : 200/400, 50 ante
Shuo Li and Yang Wang
Shuo Li and Yang Wang

After a three-way flop of {K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, the action was on Johnjin Kim and he bet 1,600 with around 12,800 total. Shuo Li raised to 5,100 and Yang Wang, having everyone on the table covered by far, simply shoved all in from one seat over. Kim called all in, as did Li, and the trio jumped out of their seats for the showdown.

Johnjin Kim: {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Shuo Li: {K-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Yang Wang: {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}

Kim's flush draw faced two pair and top pair, and Wang took the lead on the {10-Hearts} turn, he even got a little excited already. The {A-Hearts} river then completed the board and Kim was eliminated, while his stack was split between Li and Wang. Many other cards would have resulted in two seat open or a triply up, while Wang remains at the top of the counts towards the end of level four.

Lovgren Busts Sergeev, Sun Starts Shining

Niveau 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Sofia Lovgren has just brought Sergey Sergeev’s tournament to a close and we arrived just in time to see Lovgren stacking up her newly won chips with pocket queens face up on the felt in front of her, just a Sergreev was congratulating her on the hand and getting up to leave.

It does not look as though Sergeev is interested in firing the second bullet and he headed for the rail. One player who is on his second bullet is Sheng Sun and the Chinese player appears to be doing better than his first attempt.

We caught Sun involved in a hand with tablemate Ioannis Konstas in as a raising war developed between the two pre-flop. Konstas was the player in position and he had a bet of 3,300 out on the baize in front of him.

However, Sun had just raised again, sliding out a bet of 10,700 in total. Konstas mulled it over but wanted to see the flop and made up the difference to bring both players to the {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs} community cards.

The action stalled here with both players checking before Sun fired out a delayed c-bet of 9,500. Konstas called and the {2-Hearts} hit the river.

Sun reached for chips again, picking four yellow 5k chips off the top of his stack for a bet of 20,000 and though he looked sorely tempted Konstas eventually elected to let it go. That puts Sun up to 84400, while Konstas dropped to 33,375.

Some Recovery by Haxton

Niveau 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Egor Bulychev made it 900 to go from the cutoff and Isaac Haxton called on the button. Randy Lew had arrived on that table not long ago, but got out of the way in the big blind, and the duo headed to a flop of {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts}, which Bulychev checked. Haxton bet 900 and his opponent called before the Russian checked again the {Q-Clubs} turn.

Haxton now bet 5,000 and that did the trick to scoop the pot uncontested. After the earlier mishap with Sergio Aido, Haxton is on the way back up.

Juanda Gives Ho Warm Welcome

Niveau 4 : 200/400, 50 ante
John Juanda
John Juanda

There have been 120 entries so far here in the HK$103,000 High Roller Single Re-Entry Shot Clock event, with 3 re-entries of whom 103 are still in contention.

One of the recent arrivals is US player Maria Ho who has just taken her seat over on John Juanda’s table, who had a warm welcome for her. Eager to get into the action Ho opened for 1,000 from middle position, with neighboring Juanda making the call along with Masaya Nakagawa in the big blind.

The flop fell a rather dry {2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs} bringing a check from Nakagawa and a 1,600 continuation bet from Ho, which both opponents called to keep the action three-way to the {q-Spades} turn.

Ho did not seem perturbed by the arrival of some paint and led out for 4,300 after Nakagawa checked his option.

Juanda was busy fiddling with a facemask for a good 20-seconds or so, but finally got it on comfortably and announced the raise, juicing it up to 13,000.

Nakagawa quickly folded and while Ho did not look too thrilled about it, she too eventually let it go.

Zhao Shoves Into Hong

Niveau 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

The pots are most certainly getting bigger and more than a dozen players have already been eliminated with four re-entries in the mix.

A big pot was brewing between Nan Hong from under the gun and Hongjun Zhao and things escalated from a limp-reraise preflop to a big bet worth 19,000 on the {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} turn. Zhao was not impressed at all by that and simply moved all in, covering Hong by far, and the time bank for the latter ran down to four seconds before Hong folded his cards.

Right after, Hong was moved to a different table and is among the four thus far that are on their second bullet.

JC Alvarado bet a heads-up turn of {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{10-Spades} for 6,000 out of the big blind and Dong Kim called. On the {J-Diamonds} river, both players checked and Alvarado flashed {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}. Kim took down the pot with {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} and immediately said "I was so scared of a big bet on the river."
