Quenneville Takes from Addamo

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

On the {J-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop, Michael Addamo checked and called a bet worth 33,000 by Troy Quenneville from under the gun. The {4-Diamonds} on the turn was checked through and Addamo then led the {5-Clubs} river for 12,000 only. Quenneville raised it up to 96,000 and Addamo called, but tapped the table when Quenneville showed the {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

Lai and Petrangelo Scoop Pots

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Ben Lai defended his small blind against Dan Smith and eventually ended up calling a bet worth 65,000 on the {K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} river. Smith rolled over {9-Spades}{8-Spades} for a bluff and Lai scooped the pot with {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}.

Over on table one, Nick Petrangelo defended his big blind against a raise by Troy Quenneville and check-called a bet on the {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop. On the {8-Diamonds} turn, Petrangelo bet 75,000 and Quenneville called before the {4-Hearts} fell on the river.

Petrangelo now fired a bet worth 92,000 and Quenneville called, then mucked when he was shown {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a full house.

Dvoress Busts to Attenborough

Niveau 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

Michael Addamo raised it up to 18,000 and Daniel Dvoress moved all in for the last 78,000 from the button. Adrian Attenborough sat in the big blind and gave it some consideration, then moved all in himself for around 300,000. Addamo got out of the way and the cards were tabled.

Daniel Dvoress: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Adrian Attenborough: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}

Attenborough started cutting out the chips to pay off his opponent and then the flop fell {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} to give the Aussie a set. On the {8-Hearts} turn, nothing much changed and the {2-Clubs} river officially ended the tournament of Dvoress in 18th place for HL$210,000.

Addamo Pressures, Li Doubles

Niveau 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

With chips to spare Michael Addamo has been turning up the heat since the elimination of Nakagawa taking down several pots without showdown.

Addamo won a battle of the blinds against Nick Petrangelo after the US player limped from the small blind before check-raising Addamo’s 23,000 raise to the tune of 90,000.

Addamo made the call and the flop came down {10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, which both player checked. After Petrangelo checked for the second time on the {9-Spades} turn Addamo slid out a tower of yellow 5k chips for a bet of 112,000 and Petrangelo quickly mucked.

Addamo pushed Xixiang Luo off another pot a few hands later, check raising the Chinese player’s 19,000 c-bet on a {9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} from the small blind to the tune of 57,000 which was enough to get Luo to give it up.

Shou Li managed to earn a double up at the expense of Sosia Jiang after moving all in pre-flop with king-queen. Jiang made the call with ace-jack and while Li was behind the board came down queen-high and Liu climbed to 220,000 while Jiang dropped to 356,000.

Niveau 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Lai instantly moved all in and Yu reluctantly folded. James Chen joked that Lai had aces, who replied "did you see my hand?" and Yu added "I thought he might have had aces."

Petrangelo Doubles Through Dvoress

Niveau 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Nick Petrangelo raised it up to 16,000 from the cutoff and the action folded to Daniel Dvoress in the big blind. The Canadian asked for the stack size of his opponent, which amounted to 201,000, and Dvoress then moved all in. Petrangelo called and had a flip for his tournament life.

Nick Petrangelo: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Daniel Dvoress: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The board came {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Dvoress' stack was cut in half. "Fold like a ... and win a flip," Petrangelo said with a grin on the face.

Nakagawa Busts to Addamo

Niveau 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Masaya Nakagawa
Masaya Nakagawa

There were several all-ins with no callers, with Manig Loeser and Troy Quenneville shoving at the right time to take down pots without showdown.

Michael Addamo won a decent sized pot from Nick Petrangelo, folding out the US pro after calling a Petrangelo late position raise pre-flop from the blinds and firing all three streets to climb up to over half a million in chips and drop Petrangelo down to 200,000 before Japan’s Mayasa Nakagawa became the next paying casualty.

It was Petrangelo who lit the fuse with a late position open to 18,000 pre-flop and both Nakagawa and Addamo made the call from the cut off and button respectively to take play three-way to a {10-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop.

Petrangelo continuation bet for 22,000 and both opponents called to keep the action three-way to the {2-Diamonds} turn.

This slowed down the current Global Poker Index Player of the Year frontrunner who checked the action over to Nakagawa who decided to seize the initiative with a bet of 50,000.

Addamo called and Petrangelo folded to bring play heads-up to the {5-Diamonds} river. This brought a check from Nakagawa and after running the shot clock down to 10-seconds Addamo moved all-in to send the Japanese player deep into the think tank.

Addamo had Nakagawa covered and with just seconds to spare on the shot clock the Japanese player made the call for his tournament life. While Nakagawa had {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for two pairs he could not beat Addamo’s {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Nakagawa departed in 19th place.
