Lonis Cracks Craigen's Aces

Niveau 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Jesse Lonis
Jesse Lonis

Platinum Pass winner Amel Husnic raised to 4,000 from middle position and fellow pass winner Glen Craigen three-bet to 10,000 to his left. Jesse Lonis made the call from the big blind and Husnic tossed in the call to the {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop.

Action checked to Craigen, who fired 20,000. Lonis then raised all-in and Husnic quickly got out of the way. Craigen tossed in the call and the hands were turned up.

Jesse Lonis: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Glen Craigen: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Lonis outflopped Craigen by spiking a set of nines, while the {2-Hearts} turn and {2-Clubs} river changed nothing for the early double up.

From London to the Bahamas; Spulber Turns Mystery Bounty Platinum Pass into PSPC Day 2

Niveau 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Iosif Spulber
Iosif Spulber

When PokerStars released the schedule for EPT London, it was announced that two Platinum Passes for the 2023 PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) would be up for grabs in the English Capital last October.

The first $30,000 package was awarded in the Platinum Pass Flipout tournament that took place in the morning on Saturday, October 22. That morning, each player who had qualified online to either the £1,100 UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Main Event or the £5,300 EPT Main Event were automatically entered into the flipout event, where the winner would be awarded a Platinum Pass.

A flipout tournament is where each player is automatically all-in and whoever has the winning hand after the runout advances to the next stage. That process then repeats itself until a winner is crowned.

Ten players made the final table and were dealt their hole cards. The dealer then fanned the {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts} board. After the players turned their cards over, it was revealed that Romania's Iosif Spulber was the winner as he ended up with trip aces after being dealt the {a-Spades}{k-Spades}.

The 32-year-old Software Engineer is a self-proclaimed recreational poker player and also an avid member of PokerStars Ambassdor Lex Veldhuis' Twitch community.

“I simply love Twitch poker,” he told PokerStars Blog. “I think it’s got a lot of elements that make it perfect for streaming. It’s so entertaining, the entire audience ‘invests’ in deep runs, and the hype when something massive is about to go down is insane.”

Spulber made it to Day 2 of the PSPC with a healthy stack of 149,500 and will be looking to keep his upward trend as play progresses today.

Harley opened to 3,000 from early position with {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and then Rick Bleakley moved all in for 29,500 with {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}. Then Leo Margets shoved over the top for 33,500 with her {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}[and action folded back around to Harley.

After some time in the tank, he decided to let it go and the cards were tabled.
