Players Finally Get Another Break

Niveau 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
PSPC Money Bubble
PSPC Money Bubble

After an extended bubble that seemed to drag on forever, the remaining 131 players are now going on their second 20-minute break of the day. The bubble finally burst after a long hand-for-hand process and the short stacks quickly made their way to the payout desk. Here is a look at some of the highlights from the previous two levels:

Grafton Triples, Pye Busts

Niveau 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Sam Grafton
Sam Grafton

Mason Pye’s middle position raise was met with a shove from Pedro Garagnani in the small blind. Sam Grafton then called for his stack of 245,000 and Pye followed by calling all-in for 133,000 chips.

Mason Pye: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Sam Grafton: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Pedro Garagnani: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Grafton’s pocket pair remained ahead after the {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop. The {6-Hearts} turn and {4-Hearts} river changed nothing, giving Grafton a near triple-up while Pye was eliminated.

WSOP Main Event Champs Get Consecutive Doubles; Moneymaker Then Busts

Niveau 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

Two former WSOP Main Event champions are seated next two each other on Table 12, with Martin Jacobson being on the direct right of Chris Moneymaker.

Jacobson was all-in for his last 22,000 from the big blind and was at risk to Istvan Pilhofer, who opened from early position.

Martin Jacobson: {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Istvan Pilhofer: {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

Both players paired their aces on the {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop but Jacobson's kicker was better. He found the double up following the {j-Spades} turn and {q-Spades} river.

The very next hand, Dinesh Alt opened to 24,000 from the hijack and called when Chris Moneymaker jammed for 45,000 from the cutoff.

Chris Moneymaker: {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Dinesh Alt: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Moneymaker had a gutshot to Broadway but was still behind on the {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop. He paired his jack to take the lead on the {j-Spades} turn and held out to rake in the pot when the {8-Clubs} completed the board.

Moneymaker's fortune quickly fizzled out after finding himself all-in again with {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, up against Pilhofer's {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}. Moneymaker flopped a flush draw on the {j-}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop, but failed to outdraw the kings following the {9-} turn and {10-} river.

The action from the previous Main Event winners was not over though, as Jacobson raised to 55,000 from the cutoff. He had 1,000 left behind and action folded to Andrew Moreno, who was in the big blind. He thought it over but eventually folded and Jacobson chipped up.

Back to the Booth for Benger

Niveau 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Griffin Benger
Griffin Benger

Griffin Benger opened to 45,000 on the button with just 3,000 behind and Platinum Pass winner Joep van den Bijgaart three-bet to put the PokerStars commentator to the test.

"I actually don't know if I can call this," Benger.

"What?" reacted a confused Tony Tran.

After several minutes of tanking, Benger called it off.

Griffin Benger: {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Joep van den Bijgaart: {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Benger was dominated and the board ran out {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{j-Hearts} to give Bijgaart a full house, though he didn't realize it and thought Benger had won with a straight.

"Don't you know how to play poker?!" the commentator joked before leaving the table.

Garagnani Takes Out Two

Niveau 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Pedro Garagnani
Pedro Garagnani

Justin Zaki moved all-in from middle position for 33,000 only to see Pedro Garagnani shove his stack on the button. Platinum Pass winner Marius Irimia then put his last big blind in the middle and the hands were turned up.

Marius Irimia: {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Justin Zaki: {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Pedro Garagnani: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Irimia picked up a straight draw on the {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop before Garagnani hit the {q-Clubs} turn to make top pair. The {j-Spades} river left Garagnani with the best hand, knocking out both Irimia and Zaki with a min cash.

Mauricio Ferreira Pais Bubbles PSPC

Niveau 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Bubble Boy Mauricio Ferreira Pais
Bubble Boy Mauricio Ferreira Pais

Mauricio Ferreira Pais had the all-in triangle in front of him as he was forced all-in from the big blind. Action folded to Omar Del Pino, in the cutoff, and he made it 25,000. The remaining active players folded to set up the all-in showdown.

Mauricio Ferreira Pais: {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Omar Del Pino: {q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

Ferreira Pais was in bad shape and would need a miracle following the {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop. Del Pino then filled up on the {q-Spades} turn to lock up the hand. The {10-Diamonds} river completed the board and confirmed Ferreira Pais as the unfortunate bubble boy.

Adrian Vinuela Garcia

Nikolai Tulin raised to 24,000 from early position and Adrian Vinuela Garcia moved all-in to his left for 36,000. The action folded back around to Tulin, who wished Vinuela Garcia good luck as he slid in the call.

Adrian Vinuela Garcia: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Nikolai Tulin: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

Vinuela Garcia was flipping for his tournament life and the {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} brought Tulin a flush draw. The {4-Diamonds} turn and {5-Clubs} river were safe as Vinuela Garcia's pocket jacks held for the double up.

Dinner for the Dealer Courtesy of Zajmovic

Niveau 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Ema Zajmovic
Ema Zajmovic

The action folded around to Ema Zajmovic in the small blind who ripped all in for 100,000. Talal Shakerchi was in the big blind and quickly called to put Zajmovic at risk. The two players waited anxiously for seven minutes while the action was completed at all of the other tables.

"I jammed into the richest person in the tournament who has all the chips. Good job, Ema," Zajmovic sarcastically complimented herself. "I said I didn't want to bubble and I didn't want to be on camera, now it's all happening at once."

Zajmovic also pleaded with the dealer, informing him she would give him anything he wants. "Dinner for you on the beach. Bring your wife, girlfriend, kids, dog, and cat, whatever you want."

Ema Zajmovic: {q-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Talal Shakerchi: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The flop came {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts} and things were looking scarce for Zajmovic. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and she slowly shuffled in her seat. The river was the {q-Hearts} and Zajmovic spiked a queen on the river in order to double up.

"You get whatever you want. Whatever you want!" Ori Hasson exclaimed to the dealer while recording the whole seven-minute charade.

Zamani Folds Queens Correctly; Marques Plays Jack-Four

Niveau 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Martin Zamani
Martin Zamani

Andre Marques opened to 20,000 from under the gun and Martin Zamani called from middle position. Daniel Stancer, with 101,000 behind, went into the tank and the clock was called. He folded when time ran out. Luca Venturini then called from the big blind.

Marques continued for 20,000 on the {7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and both of his opponents called. The turn brought in the {6-Diamonds} and Marques fired out another 75,000. Both players folded.

"You show if I show?" asked Zamani and Marques agreed.

Zamani tabled his {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} to show he folded the overpair. Marques then flashed a {j-Diamonds} which was followed by the {4-Diamonds} which meant Marques turned the flush.

The table had a little laugh after seeing Marques' hand.

"We Bust the Champ"

Niveau 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Espen Jorstad
Espen Jorstad

Pedro Marques raised it up from early position and Espen Jorstad called from the big blind as the short stack. The flop came {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Jorstad bet 25,000. Marques raised and Jorstad called off his last 4,000 chips.

Espen Jorstad: {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Pedro Marques: {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Jorstad was upset to see that exact hand from Marques as his outs were limited to just two. The {a-Spades} on the turn left the WSOP Main Event champion drawing dead to the {10-Clubs} on the river.

"We bust the champ, we bust the champ," Mustapha Kanit started chanting as his good friend Jorstad was eliminated.
