Action was picked up on the turn with roughly 85,000 in the pot and the board showing 4♣7♥5♠10♠
Mike Fouts bet out 40,000 and Rohan Aggarwal made the call to see the river.
Both players checked after the 4♦ on the river. Fouts showed K♠6♠ for a missed straight draw and just king high, but Aggarwal tabled Q♥Q♥ for two pair queens and fours to take the sizable pot.
Duma Lowery opened the action with a raise to 10,000 from early position and once it folded to Adrian Gutierrez in the hijack he three-bet all in for 70,000. It folded back to Lowery who made the call to put Gutierrez at risk.
Adrian Gutierrez: Q♥Q♣
Duma Lowery: A♥K♣
It was a classic flip for Gutierrez's tournament life. The 3♠6♠8♣ flop kept Gutierrez ahead, but the A♣ on the turn left him with two outs with just one card to come. The 8♠ on the turn gave Lowery the pot with two pair aces and eights to take the pot and eliminate Gutierrez.
Earlier this month at Atlantis Casino and Resort in Reno, Dustin Cavanaugh defeated a field of 301 entrants to claim victory in the $600 Main Event.
“This is the best weekend of poker I have had in years,” the newly crowned champion said, “so much fun, lot of good players, lot of good competition, and I had a blast.”
The first thing that Cavanaugh did was call his mother after the tournament and he talked a bit about her literal support of him during this tournament. “It’s been freezing in this room, so she brought me my long sleeve. She’s working on her doctorate here at UNR so I was just up for the weekend visiting. It feels good to spend time with my mom and take home a ring. She’s so supportive of me.”
Action folded to Joe Sendelbach on the button who limped in, before Frank Kissick raised to 15,000 from the big blind. Sendelbach made the call to see a flop.
The flop came K♦K♣8♥ and Kissick check-called a bet of 20,000 from Sendelbach.
Both players checked to showdown after the 4♣ turn and 5♦ river. Sendelbach tabled 6♦5♠ for two pair kings and five which was good to take the pot as Kissick mucked his hand.
Action to the player on the button who raised to 10,000, before Matt Riffel in the small blind three-bet all in for his stack of 55,000. Once the big blind folded the player on the button made the call to put Riffel at risk.
Matt Riffel: K♣8♣
Button: Q♦8♠
Riffel had his opponent dominated but after the 4♣6♠Q♣ flop his opponent took the lead with a pair of queens, but Riffel also picked up a flush draw. The 5♦ was no help but the K♠ on the river gave Riffel the best hand with a pair of kings to secure the double up.
