Day 2 of GG Poker UK Poker Championships Main Event 2024 Due to Commence

Welcome to Day 2 of the 2024 GG Poker UK Poker Championships Main Event, being held at one of the United Kingdom’s premier poker rooms – Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club in Nottingham.

The Main Event features a £560 buy-in coupled with a massive guarantee of £500,000, and attracted a total of 1,258 entries across four live flights and two online flights, resulting in a prize pool of £603,840.

A total of 237 players have navigated their way to Day 2, with Simon Davidson (1,950,000), Joe Smith (1,600,000) and Owen Dodd (1,495,000) leading the way.

188 players will be in the money, with a minimum cash resulting in a payout of £1,000, and first place netting the champion the princely sum of £102,000.

Notable names who are still in the mix include Alex Montgomery (925,000), John Bradley (862,204) Guy Taylor (670,000) and Tom Middleton (604,719), all of whom will be hoping to put together a deep run.

Day 2 commences at noon local time, where players are scheduled to play twelve 50-minute levels with blinds starting at 10,000/15,000 with a 15,000 big blind ante. Players who reach Day 3 will return to 60-minute levels, with blinds starting at 125,000/250,000 with a 250,000 big blind ante.

Solomon Takes Early Pot from Obadun

On the 3♥2♦Q♥ flop, Solomon check-called a bet of 35,000 from Obadun

On the 3♦ turn Solomon changed tack and led out with a bet of 35,000. Obadun quickly raised to 140,000 and Solomon made the call.

On the J♣ river, Solomon checked to Obadun, who put out a bet of 250,000. After a brief period of thought Solomon made the call and turned over K♥Q♣ for a pair of queens. Obadun said "Nice hand" and quickly mucked his cards.

After a number of shorter stacks had survived being all-in and achieved double-ups, Dan Luby moved all in and was called by Chris Da Silva, with Luby at risk.

Da Silva was ahead with a pair of nines, leaving Luby needing some help from the board.

None arrived on the 2♦10♠8♦7♠5♠ runout, sending Luby to the rail as the unfortunate bubble boy and allowing Da Silva to continue to build a healthy stack.

All 188 players remaining are now in the money, each having achieved a cash of £1,000.

Duta Gets River Value From Flynn

Boyle Hits River to Take Huge Pot

Picking the action up on a board of 4♣10♦2♣8♣ with around 2,000,000 in the middle, Sunil Mistri fired out a bet of 550,000 and was called by Scott Boyle.

The river brought the 9♣ and Mistri took a timebank before deciding to put out a small bet of 375,000.

Boyle considered his options before reaching for chips, producing a three-bet to 1,800,000, leaving himself not much behind.

Mistri went into the tank but eventually opted for the call. He was shown the bad news as Boyle turned over A♣K♠ for the rivered nut flush, with Mistri mucking his hand in disgust.

Boyle scooped a huge pot to push him over the eight million mark.
