More for Koivisto After Aces Versus Kings Setup

Niveau 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Szabolcs Vari raised and eventually four-bet all in for around 50,000 when facing a three-bet to 11,000 by table neighbor Henri Koivisto and the snap-call of the Finn followed in a heartbeat.

Szabolcs Vari: {K-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Henri Koivisto: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

There was no surprise on the {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{10-Spades} board and Koivisto scored the knockout while adding a decent portion to his stack.

Also no longer in contention: Adrian "NMPfan", which reduced the field to the last 28 hopefuls.

Rabany Busts Aganauskas

Niveau 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Elias Vaaraniemi pulled away further at the top of the counts when he claimed the stack of Cathal Shine and a few minutes later, Vytautas Aganauskas departed from the tournament area as well.

The Lithuanian had been all in and at risk with pocket nines and faced the {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} of Pascal Rabany. Despite flopping a set on {J-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, Aganauskas ended up second-best, as the {7-Hearts} turn and {Q-Hearts} river gave Rabany a winning flush.

Sinclair Triples Up With Magic River

Niveau 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jack Sinclair
Jack Sinclair

Guillaume Dupuy raised from the cutoff and Jack Sinclair three-bet all in for 29,200 on the button. Mark Rink in the small blind gave it some thought and grabbed the all in triangle himself to move all in over the top. Dupuy called it off as the second-biggest stack to create a three-way all in,

Jack Sinclair: {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Guillaume Dupuy: {J-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Mark Rink: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

"That's not that bad," Sinclair said as he only needed an ace to secure a triple up. While the {K-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop and the {7-Spades} turn were of no help, Sinclair indeed got there on the {A-Clubs} river. His friend Feargus Murphy leaned over from the next table and joked "some guys are just too lucky," and the 2018 WSOPE Main Event champion Sinclair jumped back to an average stack in the penultimate level of Day 1a.

Hemsworth Jams at the Wrong Time

Niveau 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

In a battle cutoff versus small blind, Elias Vaaraniemi raised and Simon Hemsworth three-bet to 14,000. Vaaraniemi four-bet to around 34,000 and Hemsworth five-bet for more than 70,000 to receive a snap-call.

Hemsworth knew he was in bad shape and turned over his {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} with a sheepish smile. Vaaraniemi held the dominating {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and locked up the hand on the turn of a board {J-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{K-Spades}{10-Hearts} to soar back into the lead.

Buckley Busts Liu

Niveau 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

On the flop of {A-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}, the stacks of Zhiqiang Liu and Mark Buckley collided and the former was the player at risk with {K-Spades}{J-Spades} for the nutflushdraw. Buckley held {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for two pair and the {Q-Clubs} turn and {7-Hearts} river run out kept Buckley in the lead, sending Liu to the rail.

Niveau 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With the elimination of Lars Pieters, a new chip leader has emerged and Norway's Per Helge Gassand became the first player with more than 200,000 in chips.

Minutes later, Marc Wilkens followed and sent his chips over to fellow countryman Mark Rink, then headed over to Charlotte van Brabander to confirm what happened.

Byrne Eliminated by Storm-Christensen

Niveau 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Daiva Byrne
Daiva Byrne

Fokke Beukers was eliminated a few minutes into the new level and Daiva Byrne dropped below the starting stack after clashing with Charlotte van Brabander in a medium-sized pot.

Picking up the action on the {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} turn, Byrne checked in early position and van Brabander on the button made it 5,700 to go with the pot at 20,000 already. Byrne reluctantly called and checked again the {2-Clubs} on the river. What followed was a bet of 11,000 by van Brabander and Byrne folded with around 24,000 behind.

A few hands later, Byrne was in the big blind and faced a button raise to 3,500 by Nicolas Storm-Christensen. Byrne jammed with pocket eights in the big blind and Storm-Christensen took the flip with {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}. The board came {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and the Dane paired his ace on the turn to send Byrne to the rail.

Hanlon Busts to Koivisto

Niveau 8 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Henri Koivisto defended his big blind against Colm Hanlon and check-called a bet on the {K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop. The action escalated on the {K-Hearts} turn on which Hanlon ended up as the player at risk and turned over {K-Spades}{10-Spades} for trips kings. Koivisto had him dominated with {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a full house and and the {J-Clubs} river failed to improve the Irishman.

Both stacks were counted and Koivisto had more than 57,000, Hanlon was covered and headed to the rail towards the end of level eight.
