David Lappin, Dara O'Kearney and Ian Simpson are now all seated and have taken on the challenge that is Day 1b. Simpson started well after grabbing a small pot without showdown and flashing 
for the second nut flush.
More than 100 players are already registered to beat the field size of Day 1a, and there is little doubt that the field will grow significantly further in the hours to come.
Many of the tables started short-handed and filled up soon after, one of them was table 24 that features Michael Farrelly and Pavao Veza. In the 2017 Unibet Open Bucharest Main Event, online qualifier Veza made it all the way to the final table and finished in 3rd place for €38,965.
There was already some action on his table, as Levente Szabo raised to 300 and was called two ways by Hendrik Mertens on the button and Farrelly in the big blind. The flop came 
and action checked to Mertens, who bet 525. Only Szabo called and check-called another bet of 800 on the 
turn. Szabo then led the 
river for 1,300 and Mertens reluctantly called.
Szabo rolled over 
for kings and nines, which won the pot.
Former Irish Open champion Patrick Clarke, Johan Goslings, Phillip Huxley, Christin Maschmann and €2,200 High Roller runner-up Valentin Cristea are just a few of the notables that have already registered for Day 1b of the Main Event in Dublin. There are already 85 players registered a few minutes into the first level of Day 1b.

A big field is expected for Day 1b of the 2018 Unibet Open €1,100 Main Event, as the vast majority of online qualifiers, esports gamers, Unibet Poker ambassadors, Irish legends of poker and familiar faces of the popular tournament series will join the action for the second starting day at the Bonnington Hotel in Dublin. Yesterday's first flight drew a total of 97 entries, of which 24 players already punched their tickets for day 2.
All participants will receive 30,000 in chips and play a total of 10 levels, the registration remains open for the first six levels and the following break. A single re-entry is available to all players that bust throughout Day 1a and Day 1b, however, the second entry has to be taken in the turbo heat 1c as of 9 p.m. local time. For the final starting day, the level duration will be shortened to 20 minutes each and represents the last chance to secure a seat for Day 2 in the second-ever Unibet Open Main Event in Dublin.

The man to beat thus far is Finland's online qualifier Elias Varraniemi, who topped Day 1a with an impressive stack of 379,200, almost 13 times the starting stack. Other notables already through to Day 2 include Henri Koivisto (330,500), Markus Heikkila (104,300), 2018 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event champion Jack Sinclair (64,700), Kevin "Kevmath" Mathers (55,000) and Charlotte Van Brabander (47,600).
