Gorodinsky Soaring

Niveau 22 : 35,000/70,000, 0 ante

Mike Gorodinsky opened to 200,000 with the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Richard Kirsch defended his big blind with the {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. A flop of {3-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs} saw both players check to see the {k-Diamonds} land on the turn. Gorodinsky bet 275,000 and Kirsch called. The {4-Clubs} completed the board and both players checked sending another pot to the overwhelming chipleader.

Gorodinsky Running Over the Table

Niveau 22 : 35,000/70,000, 0 ante
Mike Gorodinsky
Mike Gorodinsky

Mike Gorodinsky has been landsliding this final table so far. He just added a large chunk to his stack after opening the button to 200,000 with {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Andjelko Andrejevic defended his big blind with {J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and they saw the {7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} hit the felt.

The flop was checked through and they carried on to the {10-Diamonds} turn. Andrejevic had two flush draws and led out 300,000. Gordo had a superior diamond draw along with a gutter and a pair. He called.

The river was the {8-Spades} and Andrejevic fired another 600,000, trying to bluff Gorodinsky off of his hand. Gorodinsky, however, snap-called with his straight and won a significant pot to increase his substantial lead. Andrejevic, meanwhile, dropped below 10 bigs.

Gorodinsky in Control

Niveau 22 : 35,000/70,000, 0 ante

Anthony Zinno opened with a bet of 225,000 looking down at the {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Mike Gorodinsky looked him up from the big blind with the {j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

Gorodinsky took no time betting the pot, leading out on the {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop, and the 440,000 bet got Zinno to fold.

Gordo Folding With Laser Beam Accuracy

Niveau 21 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante

Rainer Kempe looked down at {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and potted from the small blind, leaving himself 460,000 behind. Mike Gorodinsky found {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} in the big blind, and while it seemed inevitable we'd see him run into the goods, he managed to dodge the bullets. Gorodinsky demonstrated why he's dubbed one of the greatest PLO players in the world, laying his hand down and losing the minimum.

Another Pot for Gorodinsky

Niveau 21 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante

Mike Gorodinsky opened to 150,000 from late position with the {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts} getting calls from Andjelko Andrejevic in the small blind holding the {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Richard Kirsch in the big with the {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

All three players checked down a board reading {7-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{7-Spades} and Gorodinsky picked up the pot.

Andjelko Andrejevic opened the button to 125,000 and called off Rainer Kempe's all-in from the big blind.

Andrejevic: {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Kempe: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

The {10-Spades}{J-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop looked great for Kempe but the {2-Hearts} turn made Mike Gorodinsky laugh, pointing at running deuces. Andrejevic needed a two, four or a nine to eliminate Kempe but the river was the {7-Clubs} instead. Kempe scored a double and climbed to 635,000.

Cary Katz Eliminated in 6th Place ($38,400)

Niveau 20 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

Mike Gorodinsky limped in on the button with the {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Cary Katz flatted in the small blind with the {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. Anthony Zinno looked down at the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} in the big blind and checked his option.

A {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop fanned out and Katz bet pot worth 150,000. Zinno folded and Gorodinsky raised to put Katz all in and Katz obliged.

The {8-Spades} on the turn gave Gorodinsky a straight and Katz was unable to improve with the {7-Hearts} on the river to bow out sixth place.

Katz earns his second cash of the US Poker Open, this one for $38,400.
