Klein Finds Value on the River

Niveau 1 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Jared Jaffee opened to 2,500 in late position, Kristen Bicknell called in the hijack and Bill Klein defended his big blind. The dealer spread out {9-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} on the flop, action checked to Bicknell and she bet 3,000.

Only Klein stuck around and the {9-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Both players checked, a {5-Hearts} hit the felt on the river and Klein threw in a bet of 7,000. Bicknell took a moment before she called and Klein tabled {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for aces over nines. Bicknell mucked, sending the pot to Klein.

Wong Takes Most of Hunichen's Stack

Niveau 1 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Action was on the turn with a board of {Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Chris Hunichen checked over to Ralph Wong from middle position. Wong was in late position and he put out a nearly pot-sized bet of 20,000. Hunichen thought it over, then called.

The river was the {5-Spades} and Hunichen checked for a third time. Wong blasted a big bet, making it 45,000. Hunichen thought about it for a while, but settled on a call in the end. Wong showed his {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for an overpair to the board. Hunichen mucked his hand, dropping him to right around 40,000 chips while Wong moved to right around 190,000.

Fox Check-Raises to Victory

Niveau 1 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The board was showing {10-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and there was 6,500 in the pot. Elio Fox checked from late position to James Romero in the hijack who bet 4,000.

Fox took almost his entire shot clock before he announced a raise of 30,000. Romero took a second look at his hand, ultimately hitting the fold button, shipping the early pot to Fox.

The Second and Final $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em Event of the USPO Kicks Off Today

Ali Imsirovic
Ali Imsirovic

The US Poker Open has reached its halfway point with the completion of Event #5 and we're getting close to the Main Event which kicks off on Friday, February 22nd. But before that, there are still 3 other events starting with Event #7: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em, the second and final of the $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em Events at the USPO.

The first of these two events was taken down by the young poker phenom, Ali Imsirovic. The youngster broke through into the high roller scene with a victory in a PCA side event in 2018 and there's been no turning back since then. Past that point, he had a victory at the Borgata Spring Open Main Event, two second places in Aria High Rollers last summer, and of course, he became the Poker Master's Champion as well, final tabling three events, winning two, and taking home the coveted purple jacket prize as well. Earlier in the week he took down Event $5: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em to put him in contention to become the US Poker Open champion as well, but he'll have a lot of catching up to do.

Imsirovic chases the likes of Sean Winter, Stephen Chidwick, and Jordan Cristos, all who have their own victories in events at the US Poker Open as well as several other cashes split between them. Chidwick currently leads Event #6: $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha as well, so Imsirovic will have a lot of work if he wants to win this title as well. With just 4 events remaining, Imsirovic will have to put up some impressive performances to catch up, but he definitely has the skill set to do so. We're likely to see him come out firing today as well.

Here's a look at the schedule for the US Poker Open:
