How high will the numbers go? That’s the question everybody is asking here at the Casino de Marrakech, inside the Es Saadi Resort. After a massive turnout on Day 1a of the 15,000 MAD World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event with 581 entries recorded, Day 1b is expected to attract even more players, and Day 1c Turbo is likely to push the numbers further, easily surpassing last year’s record of 1,163 entrants.

Yesterday, after 15 levels of play, Guillaume Darcourt topped the chip counts with 480,000 chips. Dinesh Alt (443,000) and Ryan Kelly (408,000) also built big stacks, while other notable players qualified for Saturday’s Day 2 such as Rachid El Yaacoubi (308,000), Lucien Cohen (257,000), Javier Tsunamy (253,000), the defending champion Max Deveson (223,000), Sonny Franco (160,000), and Maxim Lykov (134,000).
